At first glance, this five-bedroom villa in Bengaluru by Concepto Studio seems like a study in light, calm, and proportion. But beneath its measured minimalism lies something more profound—a sense of belonging. Designed by Esha and Edwin Stanley, the home balances Nordic simplicity with the intimacy of family life. The result is a series of spaces that are not only beautiful but also deeply personal.

When the family approached the designers, their brief was simple yet heartfelt. They wanted a compact, sunlit home that embraced the ease of Scandinavian design while staying grounded in texture, tactility, and comfort. And importantly, it had to be a home their dog could share equally.

Inside the five-bedroom villa

Spread across 3,000 square feet, the five-bedroom villa unfolds across three levels, each choreographed for connection and quiet retreat. The ground floor forms the social core of the home. It brings together an open kitchen, dining zone, and a double-height living area that opens into a lush garden. A skylight floods the space with daylight, while fluted walls and curved cabinetry lend movement and softness. The ochre sofa adds a vibrant accent to the muted palette. Meanwhile, a striking black wooden totem and tailored lighting draw the eye upward. Together, they enhance the sense of height and volume.

Throughout the home, material and craft takes the attention. Pastel hues, handmade finishes, and the interplay of wicker, rattan, and wood evoke an effortless calm. Furniture and lighting were custom designed to echo nature’s quiet rhythms—from dome pendants that cast a warm glow to partitions that double as sculptural elements. Accessories from Jaipur Rugs and other artisanal brands infuse subtle character without disturbing the serenity of the palette.

A Home for All

Pet-friendliness is woven seamlessly into the design. The designers created the staircase railing and balustrades to keep the family’s dog safe. They also placed a whimsical sculpture in the garden to celebrate his presence. Even the wallpapers—one featuring Indie dogs—echo the theme of inclusion and affection. The result is a space that feels consciously designed for every member of the household, four-legged included.

The dining area continues the home’s dialogue between openness and intimacy. Muted tones and a see-through shelf cabinet create a gentle separation without blocking light, framing views of a semi-outdoor lounge—a tranquil courtyard that forms the heart of the home.

Here, the boundaries between indoors and outdoors blur, reaffirming the idea that comfort is as much about flow as it is about form.

Layers of Living

The first floor introduces layers of personality and play. A home theatre, bar area, and bedrooms bring a balance of energy and ease.

The bar, wrapped in bird-and-flower wallpaper, features a wooden island with high wicker chairs, creating a moment of warmth and conviviality.

The daughter’s room breaks into a livelier rhythm—its tufted half-wall, quirky furniture shapes, and patterned wallpaper strike a note of playful individuality.

In contrast, the guest room is restrained and cocoon-like, its wooden panelling and soft lighting encouraging rest and retreat.

On the top level, the design shifts to introspection. The master suite is an exercise in calm, anchored by tactile wallpapers, diffused tones, and a study nook that overlooks the terrace.

The son’s room, meanwhile, embraces youthful charm—a semi-raised play area, wardrobe nook seating, and cool hues create a space that grows with him.

Living with Nature

The terrace completes the home’s relationship with nature—a quiet, open expanse where breeze and light become daily companions.

Every element in this home, from the curve of a cabinet to the grain of the wood, reflects Concepto Studio’s belief that design should resonate emotionally. “It’s about creating spaces that hold stories—not just look beautiful,” says Esha. “Every texture, every joinery, every light source is designed to make the family feel seen and connected.”

In the end, this home isn’t defined by its Nordic influences or its refined craftsmanship alone—it’s defined by the feeling it leaves behind. A sense of belonging that lingers long after you’ve left, reminding you that true design doesn’t just shape spaces; it shapes how we live within them.
