Vastu Principles at the Core

Rooted deeply in Vastu principles, the planning feels intuitive and intentional rather than imposed. Circulation flows gently, allowing each space to retain its own character while maintaining a harmonious relationship with the whole. At the heart of the home with a terracotta facade lies the mandir—its spiritual core and its emotional anchor.

Skylight as a Sacred Gesture

Designed as a quiet celebration of light, devotion, and daily ritual, the mandir is crowned by a thoughtfully positioned skylight. As the first rays of the morning sun filter in, they fall directly upon the sanctum, creating a moment of silent reverence that begins each day.

Contemporary Expression

Its form draws subtle inspiration from the petals of a lotus leaf—symbolic of purity, calm, and renewal—rendered delicately enough to sit comfortably within the contemporary language of the interiors. Neither overly ornate nor overly minimal, it strikes a balance that reflects the family’s own values: grounded yet forward-looking.

Depth Through Texture and Tone

The clients’ fondness for art, narrative-driven spaces, and expressive surfaces guided the material palette. Wallpapers were chosen not as decorative afterthoughts, but as mood-setters. Their natural textures and deeper hues—dark, elemental, and unafraid of making a statement—bring a richness that paint alone could never achieve.

Instead of overwhelming the spaces, these tactile backdrops add depth, warmth, and a quiet drama that unfolds slowly as one moves through the home. Each selection, from the grain of wood to the sheen of metal accents, contributes to a layered aesthetic that feels curated yet effortless.

A Contemporary Drawing Room

The drawing room, meanwhile, explores modern shapes and Pantone-inspired tones to achieve a bold yet balanced ambiance—never dull, always deliberate. It maintains a visual vibrancy without slipping into excess.

Sculptural Yet Comfortable

Furniture pieces are sculptural yet user-friendly; fabrics carry just enough pattern to intrigue without overwhelming; and the colour palette, though contemporary, remains grounded in earthy undertones that keep the space feeling warm and welcoming. This is a room designed for conversation, pause, and presence.

An Ethnic–Modern Kitchen

The kitchen borrows its warmth from Moroccan patterned tiles paired with elegant Italian stone, creating an ethnic-modern blend that feels both familiar and refreshingly new. The interplay of patterns and solid surfaces allows the kitchen to feel lived-in and loved without sacrificing refinement.

It becomes a space where everyday routines feel slightly elevated—where the textures, colors, and soft light contribute to an atmosphere of comfort and creativity.

Shaped by Personal Preference

Arches make recurring appearances throughout the home—a signature architectural gesture shaped by the family’s individual preferences. The son’s dislike for straight-cut geometry pushed the design toward softer, more fluid forms.

The daughter’s inclination toward ethnic motifs gave the arches cultural resonance without becoming overly traditional.

Curves that Guide Experience

The grandparents’ love for earthy aesthetics ensured that these arches always felt organic and unpretentious. The result is a home where curves guide movement and emotion, subtly softening the linearity of walls and furniture. Each room becomes a reflection of its inhabitant, allowing the home to evolve not as a uniform template but as a collection of personal stories.

Organic Texture and Form

Wardrobes take inspiration from tree trunks—subtle textural variations, muted grains, and organic silhouettes that tame the rigidity of built-in storage. These design gestures, though small, add a sense of groundedness and connect the occupants to nature in a tactile, everyday manner.

Reinterpreting the Indian Arch

Indian arches, reinterpreted through wallpaper rather than structure, bring cultural nuance without overwhelming the contemporary sensibility. They act as visual cues that link the home to its roots while remaining light, modern, and flexible.

Lighting, too, plays a crucial role in building the home’s atmosphere. Warm pools of light highlight material textures, while concealed lighting softens transitions between spaces.

More than illumination, light becomes an architectural tool—shaping mood, directing attention, and enhancing the natural interplay of shadow and surface.

On the ground floor, a Pantone-driven palette ties the spaces together, lending coherence to the design language and creating a narrative continuity that is felt, even if not consciously noticed.
