  • Pops Of Color Lend Energy & Elegance To This Mumbai Home | The Next Step Interiors

    [Sassy_Social_Share]

Every home begins with a dream, and in this 1,200 sq. ft. Mulund residence, that dream found its canvas in colour. Designed by The Next Step Interiors under the creative vision of principal designer Disha Maniyar, the brief was as youthful as the clients themselves—a home that feels alive, timeless, and full of joy. They wished for spaces that would greet them with happiness, where vibrant pops of color would not overwhelm, but instead dance gracefully with calm undertones. What followed was a journey of crafting bespoke furniture, layering textures, and curating hues that lend both energy and elegance. The result is a home where every corner tells a story, and every detail resonates with playfulness wrapped in sophistication.

    MAIN DOOR (Indigo Aperture)

The home opens with “The Indigo Curtain,” an arched double door that behaves less like an entry and more like the opening act of a play. Cloaked in deep indigo gloss, it swings wide with theatrical drama, revealing a passage alive with anticipation. Beside it, a faux arched mirror-window plays the trickster, doubling light and space with clever illusion. The sunshine-yellow shoe unit—with mischievous pops of color—steals the scene and becomes the real showstopper. This isn’t just an entrance, it’s a performance.

    Living Room

The living room, a space of commanding elegance and bold gestures, is a theatrical scene named **The Serene Spectacle**. The room’s narrative is dominated by a majestic, arched mural, a classical painting enshrined within the wall. It is a powerful, artistic anchor that dictates the room’s refined tone. Yet, this solemn grace is deliberately challenged.

A magnificent swing, a symbol of pure, unadulterated joy, hangs suspended in the air, a breathtaking act of rebellion against convention. It is a whimsical defiance that introduces a thrilling tension into the space.

The palette of sophisticated beige and rich burnt-orange is a study in calculated luxury, while a backdrop of crisp, white geometric panels adds a layer of modern, architectural drama. The entire space is softened by cascades of ethereal full-length curtains, which add a final, cinematic touch, allowing light to fall like a spotlight on the stunning performance of design.

    The Dine-In Drama

Elevated on a high-raised terrazzo platform, the dining unfolds like an architectural set-piece. The green pod, angled with a distinctive slant, creates a canopy for intimate bench seating, mirrored at the back to expand light and depth.

Soft floral panels temper the boldness, while tailored detailing frames every corner with care. Anchored by a sculptural stone-top table and refined seating, this alcove becomes more than dining—it’s a stage for everyday rituals, elegantly performed.

    “The Pop Pantry”

Where colour flirts with class, and tiles play lead role

Step right through the Blue Muse and your eyes dance to the right — where the kitchen stands not as a backdrop, but as a showstopper. We call it The Pop Pantry, a stage where teal laminates flirt with warm wooden grains, and the daddy tiles (yes, those bold black-and-white geometrics) demand all the spotlight.

The breakfast counter perches like a front-row seat to this drama, while the orange niches sneak in their cheeky cameo. Even the grout plays director here — calming, balancing, and keeping the chaos chic. It’s a kitchen of quirks and poise full of pops of color, where function is dressed in theater, and everyday rituals feel like an encore.

    The Velvet Crown

A velvet headboard in midnight tones rises with theatrical poise, setting the mood for the master bedroom. Cornice-detailed mouldings frame the walls with classical finesse, while wardrobes curve at their edges, lending a soft fluidity.

The crafted Sunrise Veneer radiates across panels like a subtle burst of dawn, grounding the space in artistry. Balanced in blue, white, and wood, this bedroom becomes a stage where textures and pops of color perform in quiet yet confident drama.

    Adventure parked right beside bedtime

This is no ordinary kids’ room—it’s a playground of imagination. At its heart, a Volkswagen car bed revs up excitement, crafted on-site to be as unique as its little owner. Pillows burst with color, the headboard hugs with layered softness, and wardrobes stretch high with quirky capsule shapes and bold handles.

It’s a joyful space, where design doesn’t just decorate—it plays. A room that tells a story every night, where “adventure awaits” isn’t just on the pillow, it’s in the air

    Guest Room

    The Calm Collective

This guest room speaks in whispers, not shouts—yet its personality is undeniable. Wardrobes rise to the ceiling with bold black handles like strokes of modern art, while an aqua niche punctuates the calm neutrals with playful charm.

The teal headboard, flowing blue accent, and warm wooden flooring balance serenity with statement, crafting a space that feels both luxuriously composed and refreshingly personal.
