Situated in the historically rich city of Ajmer, this distinguished 4 storey house spans an impressive 9,500 square feet. It reflects a thoughtful balance between contemporary design sensibilities and timeless traditional craftsmanship. More than just a residence, GULNARA represents a holistic design philosophy. This expansive 4 storey house accommodates five bedrooms along with an array of essential living spaces. This includes formal and informal living areas, a dining space, a dedicated office, a home theatre, and a terrace. Each space has been conceived with a clear intention. To create harmony between functionality and emotional warmth, the design allows every family member to feel both grounded and creatively inspired.
One of the most compelling aspects of GULNARA’s design narrative is the seamless integration of natural rock formations that were originally part of the site. Instead of being seen as obstacles, these elements became anchors of inspiration. By weaving the rugged beauty of these existing natural features into the architectural envelope, the villa achieves a sense of rootedness. It gives an organic connection to its landscape that strengthens the identity of the home. The presence of these rocks infuses an earthy, tactile charm, reminding inhabitants that modern living can coexist gracefully with nature.
Traditional craft techniques play a vital role in shaping the visual and emotional tone of the villa. The use of araish, a time-honored Rajasthani plaster technique known for its soft, marble-like sheen, adds an unmistakable sense of heritage to various surfaces. Similarly, the introduction of intricate bone inlay work enriches the interiors with fine artistry. It transforms everyday objects and furnishings into expressions of cultural legacy. These techniques are not merely cosmetic choices. They serve as cultural markers, anchoring the home in a lineage of craftsmanship while enhancing its aesthetic depth.
Communal areas are equally significant in this narrative. The living and dining spaces serve as hubs of connection, encouraging family bonding and shared experiences. With warm textures, inviting materials, and carefully curated lighting, these spaces are designed to nurture conversations, celebrations, and quiet moments alike. The terrace further enhances this sense of togetherness, offering a refreshing outdoor extension where nature and design meet in effortless dialogue.
Crafting GULNARA required a sensitive design journey—one that honored tradition while embracing the conveniences and expectations of contemporary living. The design team approached this challenge by thoughtfully blending modern construction technologies with artisanal detailing, ensuring that practicality and beauty coexist at every turn. This resulted in a home that is both visually compelling and effortlessly functional, an environment where heritage does not restrict innovation but rather elevates it.
Accommodating a family of five—a couple, their two daughters, and a son—the villa needed to reflect both individuality and unity. Each bedroom has been designed as a personal retreat, shaped to mirror the preferences, aspirations, and personalities of its inhabitant. The daughters’ rooms carry a sense of softness and individuality, while the son’s space reflects structure and youthful energy. The master suite, meanwhile, embraces refinement and tranquility, offering the couple a serene sanctuary within the larger home.
As we look toward the future, GULNARA stands as a testament to the transformative power of interior design—a discipline capable of bridging centuries, cultures, and lifestyles. This villa beautifully encapsulates the essence of harmonious living by drawing from traditional roots while confidently stepping into modernity. Every corridor, every detail, and every room tells a story of thoughtful design and heartfelt intention. GULNARA is not merely a house; it is a home where artistry, heritage, and contemporary life converge to create a timeless living experience.
