Set in the heart of Gurgaon, this 2,745 sq. ft. four-bedroom apartment is a warm and carefully orchestrated blend of European quietude and contemporary Indian craft. Designed by Principal Designer Shagun Singh with Designer Suhela Verma of Homework Design Studio, the home reflects a nuanced design language—layered yet breathable, expressive yet timeless. The project is beautifully documented by Rippotai Studio- Sagar Chhabra , whose images capture both the intimacy and the refined detailing of the space.
The experience begins much before one enters the home. The entrance door—a deep green PU-painted frame with an elegant wrought-iron pattern—instantly sets the tone for what lies inside. Bold yet tasteful, this handcrafted detail elevates the main entry, making it distinctive and welcoming. It acts as a prelude to the home’s design language: a celebration of craftsmanship, texture, and subtle drama.
The Design Language Of This European Home Is Expressive yet Timeless | Homework Design Studio
Stepping inside, the entryway continues this thoughtful design language with patterned flooring, warm wooden tones, and tactile surfaces that evoke understated elegance. As one transitions into the living and dining areas, visual harmony unfolds through soft European mouldings, sculptural lighting, and a palette that balances calm neutrals with thoughtful accents.
A defining architectural gesture of the home is the slight curved ceiling spanning both the living and dining zones. These gentle arcs introduce softness and movement without compromising height—an especially valuable consideration in Gurgaon apartments, known for their generous ceiling proportions. Instead of heavy false ceilings, the designers opted for shallow, sweeping curves that maintain the room’s volume while adding a distinct character. This architectural detail instantly becomes one of the most memorable moments upon entering the primary living space.
The living area itself is a composition of comfortable, curated pieces—a jewel-toned plum sofa, subtly patterned accent chairs, and a warm wooden coffee table. The furniture selection reflects a refined balance: expressive yet never overwhelming. Plant life, art prints, and a layering of textures contribute to a lived-in, meaningful aesthetic.
Adjacent to the living room, the bar nook stands out as a sculptural corner wrapped in fluted wood and crowned by a cascading multi-disc glass pendant. Across from it, a sliding art door painted in tonal strokes of teal, mustard, and deep green acts as both a functional divider and statement piece, infusing the space with creativity.
In the dining area, custom built-in niches finished in muted yellow frame the room with a warm glow. Memorabilia, books, and personal artefacts displayed here turn the space into a gentle storytelling zone. Overhead, the shallow curved ceiling intensifies the sense of intimacy, almost enveloping the table in a soft architectural embrace.
Even transitional spaces receive deliberate attention. The corridor features a patterned ceiling paired with artwork and slender cabinetry, transforming what is usually a mundane thoroughfare into a moment of design delight.
The bedrooms continue the narrative of comfort and personality. The primary suite uses soothing textiles, warm woods, and minimal ornamentation to create a restful retreat.
In contrast, the children’s rooms embrace playfulness with two-tone wardrobes. Open shelving is provided for hobbies, patterned curtains, and pops of colour. Spaces are designed to evolve as the children grow.
Throughout the residence, Homework Design Studio’s signature emphasis on materiality shines. Cane inserts, fluted panels, handcrafted carpentry, patterned tiles, and textured wallpapers unify the home with tactile richness. Every detail—from handle shapes to ceiling arcs—reinforces the studio’s hands-on, craft-driven approach.
