Spanning 2500 sq ft, the residence is envisioned as a sanctuary—an environment that softens the noise of the city and replaces it with quiet refinement, tactile warmth, and sculptural elegance. Designed with complete creative freedom, light and texture, the home reflects a nuanced understanding of how the family lives, interacts, and finds comfort within their daily rhythms.
What results is a space rooted in calm modernity—where forms are rounded, materials are honest, and each room is curated like a composition in light. The home is a study in balance: minimal yet expressive, refined yet emotionally inviting, contemporary yet timeless. The designers intentionally designed every detail for a softened, layered, and composed to create an unbroken visual experience.
Light And Texture Shape The Design Of This 2500 Sq Ft Home | Dot Architects
Upon entering Sukoon, the visitor is welcomed by an interplay of vertical fluting, soft curves, and a muted palette that sets the tone for the rest of the residence. The foyer includes custom cabinetry with stepped forms and brass details, paired with curated sculptures and an abstract artwork that hints at the home’s refined artistic sensibility. The light and texture is warm and sophisticated, immediately establishing the language of materiality that continues throughout.
The curved forms—seen in the partitions, corners, and built elements—bring a sense of softness to the architectural shell. These gestures become defining elements of the project, allowing spaces to flow seamlessly into each other.
The living room is unquestionably the heart of Sukoon and the area that captures the design intent with the greatest clarity. Here, the palette remains understated—creamy beiges, warm taupes, soft greys—but the artistry lies in the layering of light and texture and sculptural silhouettes.
Custom seating pieces in bouclé and textured upholstery anchor the space with tactile comfort. Their rounded profiles, paired with organic-shaped tables in wood and stone, evoke a sense of collected calm. A woven rug in earthy tones grounds the space, adding both visual and sensory depth.
Art plays a central role in defining the space. A large abstract piece forms the backdrop to the main seating area, lending movement and emotion to the otherwise serene palette. The curved column, finished in a textured surface, acts not only as a structural element but as a sculptural moment within the room.
The designers bathed the room in soft daylight thanks to wide openings that led to a balcony lush with greenery. They filtered the light and texture through sheer drapery and layered curtains, creating a gentle gradient of brightness that shifts throughout the day.
Despite its open plan, the living room is subtly divided into pockets of functions. The primary seating overlooks the balcony, while a secondary seating cluster with a sculptural armchair and sofa creates a more intimate corner for conversations.
The architects designed the TV wall with a streamlined frame, delicate brass shelving, and a soft grid-textured surface—an understated yet striking feature that blends technology seamlessly into the aesthetic.
Every object—from vases and sculptural pieces to the spherical décor accents—reinforces the home’s affinity for rounded geometry and handcrafted detail.
The dining area extends the visual language of Sukoon while introducing deeper hues and metallic warmth. Anchored by a bold dining table with a cylindrical brass base and an organically shaped top, the space feels sculptural yet intimate.
Above it, a striking chandelier with branching black arms and glowing orbs creates a dramatic yet elegant focal point. These light and texture elements draw the eye upwards and balance the heavier elements below.
The dining room transitions into two directions. One towards the kitchen and other towards the private bedrooms, acting as a spatial hinge for the home.
A framed artwork of traditional Indian craft sits proudly on the back wall. It creates an interesting contrast to the contemporary forms around it, grounding the family’s cultural identity within the home.
Adjacent to the living area sits a quieter lounge nook designed as a contemplative retreat. This space features a soft palette and distinctive furniture pieces with a collectible design sensibility. The fluted wall with integrated horizontal light bands becomes a serene backdrop, while the organic rug adds a layer of grounded warmth.
The careful selection of furniture here shows an appreciation for form and craftsmanship— each piece feels almost iconic.
Unlike the expressive living spaces, the kitchen is designed with functional clarity. It remains true to the project’s material palette: warm whites, beige tones, and brushed metallic accents. Subtle grooving details on the upper cabinets add visual rhythm, while the island counter creates a casual spot for conversations or quick meals. Smart storage solutions, integrated appliances, and linear lighting bring in efficiency without visual clutter. The kitchen’s seamless extension from the dining area ensures continuity in both design and lifestyle flow.
The master bedroom reflects a deep sense of tranquillity. Here, the palette shifts slightly warmer into creams, browns, and soft blacks. A fluted backdrop with delicate panel mouldings adds dimension, while oversized monochrome artwork reinforces the home’s strong visual narrative.
The textures—from the upholstered headboard to the quilted bedding—are layered with care to create a tactile experience. Soft black accents through lighting fixtures and décor elements add a refined contrast.
This room is intentionally pared back; it exudes a sense of quiet confidence, where comfort and elegance coexist without excess.
One of the defining strengths of Sukoon is the emphasis on craftsmanship. Almost every element—from the custom furniture to the wall treatments, handpicked accessories, and sculptural lighting—reflects a deep appreciation for detail. Rounded edges, carved wooden profiles, textured panels, brass inlays, artisanal rugs, and carefully selected art pieces come together in harmony. Nothing feels loud, yet nothing goes unnoticed. This project demonstrates how minimalism can have warmth, how simplicity can have depth, and how contemporary design can feel deeply human.
What makes Sukoon especially unique is that it wasn’t shaped by a formal brief. Instead, the design emerged organically from observing the family: their calm nature, their refined taste, their preference for art, and their inclination towards understated luxury. The resulting space reflects who they are—harmonious, grounded, balanced, and authentic.
