Designed for a family of four, this 3BHK apartment strikes a balance between openness and functionality. “The client presented a straightforward brief, rich with intent—design an open furniture layout in the common areas to allow flexibility, and create bedrooms that maximise storage while maintaining clarity and ease of flow.” The design approach, therefore, was to combine aesthetics and comfort with a practical layout, shaping a home that is efficient, adaptable, and warm.
This Apartment Highlights A Practical Layout Allowing Flexibility And Ease Of Flow | emjayes Multidisciplinary Studio
From the outset, the design followed a calm and cohesive rhythm in a practical layout. Veneers, laminates, fluted panels, and glass defined a cohesive palette, enriched by groove patterns, refined handles, and aluminium inlays. Designers balanced hard finishes with soft touches—textured walls, muted upholstery, colour accents, and adaptable lighting. Together, these layers gave the home both structure and soul.
The living space sits at the heart of the apartment, anchored by a dramatic 21-foot-wide window that frames the outdoors and floods the interiors with daylight. The layout is fluid and versatile—equally suited for entertaining guests or retreating to the lounge corner for a quiet evening coffee.
The movement through the home is seamless, transitioning from the mirror-panelled vestibule into the living areas, pooja, and dining. Each retains its own identity yet merges into one expansive canvas for family life.
A wooden panelled wall becomes the focal point, detailed with grooves, aluminium T-sections inlay, and fluted surfaces. This feature cleverly conceals the doors to two bedrooms, unifying the space. At the centre, a custom bethak bridges the formal seating and lounge, while a bespoke console table—crafted in veneer, solid wood, and stone—blends function with refinement.
The dining table continues this materiality with solid wood legs and a ceramic top, complemented by green-upholstered chairs that add a note of vibrancy.
The puja corner is subtly integrated within the panelling. As fluted shutters slide open, an SS-arched niche with a white marble backdrop reveals itself. The gentle curves flow from the marble into the PU finish storage below, merging spirituality with craftsmanship in one seamless gesture.
The master bedroom unfolds in a palette of soft greys and ivory, grounded by the warmth of walnut panelling. Large windows frame views of the landscape, extending the calmness of the interior outward.
Fabric-clad wardrobes framed in wood bring texture, while a dressing corner in deep green introduces contrast and elegance. Against a textured wall, a lounge nook by the window completes the room.
A patterned armchair and accent cushion create the perfect pause—whether for reading, reflecting, or simply soaking in the view. The room as a whole is serene yet layered, shaping a private retreat rich in quiet sophistication.
Designed for a young adult, this bedroom naturally calls for a palette that reflects both personality and maturity, maintaining the practical layout. The mood is set with deep greys and ivory tones, accented by a rustic red headboard and the warmth of walnut wood. Groove patterns run through the furniture and finishes, adding rhythm and subtle detail.
The wardrobes are treated with a combination of grooved laminates and deep grey-black fabric shutters, balancing texture with simplicity. Along the adjacent wall, the TV and study unit becomes a defining feature—carved with layered detailing and set against a lime-wash textured backdrop that brings softness and depth.
Every surface speaks of layering: from the bold yet grounded palette to the play of grooves and textures, the bedroom evolves into a space that is personal, expressive, and deeply connected to its occupant’s identity.
This bedroom balances soft tones with warmth, weaving together walnut, ivory, beige-browns, and muted green. The bed, designed with a sandwich of wood and fabric, anchors the space. Side units in PU with walnut shutters and a striped wallpaper behind the headboard define the room’s character.
The theme of verticality runs throughout—expressed in wallpaper, groove patterns, wooden members, and custom-bent MS rods finished in soft green. The study table folds away when not in use, maximizing functionality. Concealed handles, curved furniture edges, and softened detailing keep the space child-friendly while ensuring a refined aesthetic.
At its core, APT. 405 is a home where clarity meets comfort—a space designed to flow effortlessly while offering its inhabitants warmth, flexibility, and quiet identity.
