The Concord Home – a cozy home design- is a residential interior project that blends functionality and aesthetics. Featuring a drawing room, living, dining, kitchen, three bedrooms, and two balconies, the layout enhances spatial flow. Furniture placement ensures openness while meeting functional needs, with every corner tailored to the users’ lifestyle and comfort.
The Interior design for the apartment stemmed from a long-term vision, to create a home that could sustain a nuclear family for years to come. The design intent was to keep common areas minimal in aesthetic, using subtle visual and textural contrasts to create a sense of balance. These elements were orchestrated so the user could either focus or drift, depending on where their attention landed.
In This Cozy Home Design, Functionality & Aesthetics Strike Balance | Shape Haven Architecture
A key intervention was a partition in the drawing area, which altered the perception of volume, making the entry feel intimate and compressed, while allowing the rest of the house to open up into spaces that felt more expansive. This contrast created cozy corners alongside moments of spatial grandeur.
While the dining, living, kitchen, and drawing rooms share a cohesive language, the three bedrooms each express their own identity, one contemporary, one tropical, and one restrained, yet all remain grounded in their core function: rest and retreat.
The drawing room’s key feature is a partition that reduces perceived volume, creating an intimate gathering space.
An altar to the right adds a cozy ceremonial touch. Textured walls blend modern and contemporary styles, while bold furniture adds contrast. Wall paneling extends to the foyer, enhancing spatial compression.
The transition from the drawing to the living room is designed to gradually amplify the perception of volume, as the user progresses and is met by furniture that anchors and balances the space.
When seated, one is faced with a striking stone-clad backdrop paired with warm wooden paneling, subtly integrated with sleek drawers for minimal, functional storage.
The sandstone, with its distinct texture, gives the TV unit a quiet identity, allowing it to exist within a calm and serene setting.
The challenge was to work with a narrow space along the accessway to both bedrooms. We set ourselves the task of creating four shallow shelves, just deep enough to hold photo frames and small artefacts, while giving the illusion that these objects were floating. Through careful use of color, texture, and soft curves, the shelves blend seamlessly into the overall composition.
This room was envisioned as a multipurpose space where the couple could comfortably work from home. With limited natural light, we used lighter tones, teal accents, and a tropical wallpaper to bring depth and freshness to the space.
A light wooden laminate was chosen for storage and a cozy corner study featuring sandwiched glass and cane, while the bed followed a similar material palette, reinforcing the tropical character of the room.
Designed for a 12-year-old boy with a love for anime and sports, this bedroom blends personality with function.
The highlight of the space is a custom T.V. unit with surrounding ledges, thoughtfully created to display his growing collection of anime figures, medals, and awards. The design reflects his passion while offering a space that is both youthful and organized.
Tucked beside a window, this cozy corner offers the perfect spot to unwind with a book, a cup of coffee, and a view. Designed for both comfort and clarity, it adds warmth and purpose to the room.
Alongside it, a sleek, long wardrobe finished in high-gloss acrylic introduces a modern contrast, giving the space a clean, contemporary edge without overwhelming its calm character.
