The interiors of Little Italy Kolkata balance warmth and sophistication, offering an inviting dining atmosphere that reflects classic Italian restaurant design and a nod to Italian heritage.
Editor’s Note: “In a quiet corner of Kolkata, Little Italy unfolds like a Tuscan memory. With terracotta walls, flickering shadows, and burgundy whispers, it is profoundly atmospheric. Crafting a timeless dialogue between rustic charm and modern grace, this restaurant is a celebration of place and memory.” ~ Anusha Sridhar
This Italian Restaurant Design Blends Warmth and Sophistication in Kolkata | Infinity Atelier
The design draws inspiration from Italian villas and rustic trattorias, focusing on natural materials and understated elegance. A mix of terracotta tones, lime-plastered walls, and deep burgundy accents shapes the visual narrative.
The hand-finished lime plaster walls reference centuries-old Italian homes where walls develop a patina over time, telling a story of age and authenticity. Instead of pristine perfection, these walls bring a worn-in charm, evoking the architecture of Florence and Siena.
Terracotta, widely used in Renaissance palazzos and countryside Italian villas, gives warmth and depth to the interiors.
Lime plaster is a signature feature of Mediterranean homes, offering a soft, uneven texture that interacts beautifully with light.
The bar design nods to classic Italian enotecas (wine bars), where brick and stone play a defining role. Brick tiles recall the historic wine cellars of Piedmont and Tuscany.
Black tiles add a sleek, modern contrast, bringing in an urban Italian café aesthetic. A deep burgundy wall in the Private Dining Room (PDR) highlights the liquor display.
Fixtures by Aditi Anuj, pleated paper chandeliers and LED Black pendant cylindrical hanging light add warmth and texture.
Solid wood tables and chairs lend a natural touch.
Rust and ochre banquette seating adds a nice play of color and contrast which makes it inviting.
Infinity Atelier’s approach to Little Italy, Kolkata, celebrates the imperfect beauty of natural materials while maintaining a modern, elegant sensibility. Every detail, from the lighting and wall finishes to the bar and seating, is a nod to the charm of Italian heritage, reimagined for contemporary Kolkata.
