  • How You Can Easily Afford Your Dream Remodel of Your Home

While a study by Houzz shows that 12% of homeowners are more likely to set renovation budgets than in 2015, it’s likely due to the outrageous costs associated with remodeling a home. As an architect, remodeling can be a great way to incorporate some of your favorite designs and structure into your own home. However, while costs vary from project to project, not everyone has that kind of money laying around when it comes time to pay. Luckily, there are many ways in which you can easily pay for the upgrade of your dreams no matter what room you’re renovating – all without breaking the bank.

    Payment options

Before you begin remodeling, it’s important to know that you have a wide variety of options when it comes to paying for it. Taking a personal loan out can partially or fully cover your remodeling expenses upfront, and allow you to pay it back later. Not only will this give you more time to pay for it, but will allow you to do so in more manageable amounts over time. Other options include buying your materials with a credit card, or on a payment plan – both of which allow you to pay things off at a later date when done so responsibly.

    Creating a plan

Setting a budget may sound difficult, but it’s a simple way to plan out your projected spending on what you want to be done, and can give you an idea of how much things will cost individually and in total. As an architect, you may already know the majority of what you need for the remodel, but you’re going to want to sit down and research how much your home improvements will cost you (materials, labor, etc.) – and if there is any way to get them cheaper. While many people may find it difficult to stick to a budget, it’s not impossible – and can even help you to refrain from any unnecessary spending through the process.

    Doing it yourself

Home improvement can be very expensive, especially if you’re hiring people to come to your home and do most (or all) of the work. One of the best ways to diminish these costs is to do most of the labor yourself. Things like painting, installing drywall, and laying down tile are generally simple tasks that many homeowners can do themselves.

And, when it comes to the architecture, designing your remodel is a great way to use your skills to their fullest ability. While it may be more work on your end, you can save a great amount of money while ensuring things are done your way – and get great satisfaction out of it, too. However, there are things you should definitely leave to the professionals – such as plumbing and electrical work.

Whether you’re looking to remodel your home to sell it on the market, or simply want to spruce up your forever-home with some of your favorite architectural designs, finding the funds to do so can be tough. By doing a few things on your own, taking out a loan, or re-purposing other materials, you’re sure to achieve the look you want without breaking the bank.
