    Dining and Kitchen

The kitchen is the focal point of the common area. It features a 10-foot granite island that provides an uninterrupted view of the valley. Additionally, the open-plan layout of the dining and kitchen spaces ensures that the beauty of the surroundings is visible from every corner.

Thoughtfully placed vintage copper utensils, black granite elements, and bespoke furniture pieces maintain the farmhouse’s cohesive rustic-modern blend.

The adjoining dining space features a modern yet organic aesthetic, where the view becomes as much a part of the dining experience as the food.

    Bedrooms

The bedrooms are particularly designed with privacy, comfort, and tranquility in mind.

A large window frames the valley view, while the interior is furnished with minimalistic yet thoughtful pieces.

    Cabin

Natural materials dominate the space, offering a peaceful retreat that allows for rest and reflection. The cabin, similarly, follows the minimalist theme, embracing simplicity without compromising on luxury.

    Wooden Staircase

The farmhouse features a rustic wooden staircase leading to the lower-level lawns, where bamboo railings complement the olive-green wall.

The use of natural elements such as stone flooring and a wooden pergola further enhances the outdoor living experience.

    Outdoor Terrace

The area provides breathtaking views of the pool and valley, offering a perfect space for relaxation. Moreover, the large outdoor terrace is designed as a serene spot, ideal for social gatherings or quiet contemplation. Additionally, it is enriched with pampas grass and verdant plants.

The inspiration for Bhide’s Farmhouse comes from an appreciation of both modern minimalism and traditional craftsmanship. Roheena Nagpal drew inspiration from historical references, such as the ancient Jodhpur door and the antique Naga table, creating a seamless fusion of past and present.

    Organic Architecture

The project also takes cues from organic architecture, emphasizing a connection with the environment. The use of local materials like Gokak stone, bamboo, and granite is a nod to sustainability, while the thoughtful inclusion of handwoven cane lights and vintage copper utensils adds a timeless quality to the space.

The biggest challenge faced during the design and execution phase of this farmhouse in Pune was integrating modern comfort with traditional materials in a way that both honored the past and embraced the future. Achieving a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor spaces required meticulous planning, especially with the expansive glass frontage and the strategic positioning of walls to optimize insulation while maintaining the aesthetic of openness. The unique requirement of combining rustic, organic elements with contemporary design also posed challenges in sourcing and crafting bespoke pieces that would complement the farmhouse’s ethos.
