The homeowners, a young couple, dreamed of a sanctuary that offered respite from their hectic working schedules while being a comfortable space for their two young baby girls. With two young children, prioritising space and functionality was paramount, as was the home owner’s desire for their home to reflect their memories, moods, and lifestyle with a clean design language that feels spacious and open.
This Cosy House Redefines the Concept of Serene Spaces | Design Vault
At first glance, earthy-toned floors, contemporary elements, tonal textures, and an uninterrupted fresh breeze pouring in invite you into this home. The living room is a sensorial delight, wittily drawing attention to neatly tucked fluting on the walls, while the furniture echoes subtle curves and varied textures.
Despite being minimal, the residence space has a unique identity due to the abundance of prints and textures. At the centre of the setting sits a plush curved 3-seater, our take on the ‘serpentine sofa’ in boucle, flanked by two vibrant single-seaters.
The carefully stitched neutral palette of this cosy house celebrates eclectic decor and abstract art. Ample daylight gushes in through its windows, bouncing off the cream-hued walls while a measured ensemble of sharp angles and curves defines the space and its various elements.
The dining area is carved out of the living and is actually where the neutral palette shines the brightest. It is prodded on by dramatic mirror panelling and a textured backdrop that showcases ceramic art. The peculiarly shaped dining table forms an ideal seating scenario for the family to converge. It is either to eat, play, or even to work.
A subtle geometry is echoed through the fabric selected for the dining chairs. This creates a unique contrast to the otherwise subtle pallete.
The carefully stitched neutral palette takes on bespoke form in the two bedrooms. In the master bedroom, this minimal palette emerges as anything but monotonous. Thus, owing to the accents of a toasty wooden console unit and a wardrobe with cane shutters.
Fluted accents irregularly adorn the wall while plush paisley fabric from ‘kalakari haath’ renders the bed headboard. A subtle dome form above the console defines the snug study space for the couple to use while working from home. An irregularly shaped mirror adds a quirky element to the space, which is complete with elusive quality.
Contrary to this, the Kids bedroom encourages a dreamy playfulness with a bespoke wallpaper by ‘Life n color’ occupying centre stage. All elements in this space draw inspiration from the imagination and perspective of the two little ones, inviting them to enjoy, learn, and explore.
Be it a snug console unit with animal-shaped knobs from‘mantara’ or the multiple open pigeon holes integrated into the wardrobe for them to display their toys. The entire theme of the space is reminiscent of a wonderland!
