  • This 3 BHK Apartment Design Integrates Japandi With Innovative Elements | Studio KNest

Studio KNest’s revamp of this 3 bhk apartment in the city of Mumbai artfully integrates Japandi with innovative design elements. The use of arches and fluted panelling adds architectural depth and visual interest, subtly guiding the eye through the space. Each room is thoughtfully curated to enhance functionality and aesthetics.

Editor’s Note: “Soft curves and a neutral colour palette create an air of clean minimalism, inviting tranquillity into every corner. Earthy tones and textured fluted panels weave a serene aesthetic, enveloping the space in a comforting embrace. Periodic splashes of vibrant colours dance throughout the abode, breaking the monotony of warm hues and infusing life into the design.” ~Simran Khare

In the living area, natural wood finishes and smooth veneers complement minimalist furniture, creating a warm yet sleek atmosphere. The arches frame key spaces, such as the entryway and dining area, providing a soft transition between zones.

    Earthy Tones

The entrance door on the other hand is crafted using elegant arched mouldings and mirrors, its earthy tones comfort the user entering the house.

The dining area is a standout feature, highlighted by ‘Kalakaari Haath’ wallpaper that depicts a tranquil landscape. This serene imagery brings a sense of calm to the space, offering a perfect backdrop for gatherings.

A touch of local elements like an elegant rug from the company ‘Jaipur rugs’ and Tikli artwork from ‘Inara’ complements the otherwise subtle elements.

The kitchen embraces a minimal modern design approach. We have balanced simplicity with striking elements. The white Kitkat tiles used create a clean, textured backdrop, adding depth to the space while maintaining an airy and sleek aesthetic. The pop-green lower drawers provide a vibrant contrast, injecting energy and freshness without overwhelming the minimalist feel. Clean lines and a restrained colour palette ensure the space feels contemporary and functional, perfect for modern living.

    Sleek and Clean Space

The toilet is designed with a warm, serene aesthetic, featuring peach-hued highlighter tiles that bring a soft, inviting glow to the walls. The terrazzo floor tiles beautifully complement the peach tones, adding texture and visual interest with their speckled pattern. Black Jaguar fixtures introduce a bold, modern contrast, enhancing the sleekness of the space. A green planter reflected in the U-shaped mirror adds a touch of natural vibrancy, bringing life and balance to the muted colour palette.

The master bedroom toilet exudes a rustic charm through the use of a monotonous effect, achieved by repeating the same earthy-toned tiles across the walls and floors. An abstract-shaped mirror breaks the uniformity, adding a modern, artistic touch that stands out against the rustic backdrop. The overall design blends simplicity with raw elegance, giving the space a warm, understated character that feels both organic and contemporary.

The two bedrooms are serene retreats, with neutral tones and natural materials ensuring a restful environment. Additionally, the study room is designed with clean lines, reflecting Japandi’s focus on simplicity and functionality. The bathrooms, in contrast, are designed to be vibrant and engaging. Furthermore, each bathroom features a unique theme with pops of colour, creating a lively and refreshing atmosphere. This playful approach to the spaces adds an element of surprise and individuality, making them stand out from the more subdued, serene areas of the apartment.

    Combination of Bold Hues

Moreover, this powder toilet exudes bold sophistication with its striking green highlighter tiles, paired perfectly with sleek black ‘Kohler’ fittings. An L-shaped mirror expands the space visually, reflecting both light and colour, while the wall lights enhance the room with a soft, inviting glow. The combination of bold hues, refined fittings, and thoughtful lighting creates a contemporary, high-impact space that feels both luxurious and stylish.

Overall, Studio KNest has combined traditional Japandi principles with modern design techniques, creating a harmonious and dynamic living environment capturing the essence of sophisticated urban living in Mumbai.
