This 5000 sq ft House is for a Multigenerational Family of Ten | Dimensions.nsk

A sprawling 5000 sq ft house for a multigenerational family of ten, involved careful planning, creativity and consideration of the owner’s individual preferences and lifestyle. The space hence is a result of collaboration between our team and the family members, driven by each of their creative choices and personalities. The goal was to elevate the living experience of the homeowners and still make it a place of comfort and style.

Editor’s Note: “This 5000 sq ft multigenerational residence unfolds as a seamless narrative of individuality, comfort, and sophistication. Natural materials, elegant lines, and bespoke elements create a serene, inviting environment. Every corner speaks of thoughtful design, creating a space that feels both timeless and intimately personal.” ~Isha Bora

Starting with the entrance lobby, it’s a fluted stone and vertical lines composition in Burma teak. The play of light and shadow on the fluted surface accentuates the texture and depth, creating a captivating interplay of light.

Blend of Materials

A continuous wall running through the house made of stone and veneer binds the house interiors wonderfully by adding character and visual appeal to the living spaces.

The minimal white and grey kitchen focuses on the functionality, keeping the lines straight and clean. The window seating along with the breakfast table provides for some interaction spaces.

Bedrooms

Designing of the five bedrooms, each with a unique shade and distinct material palette was done while embracing elegance and incorporating a common language between them. In the Indian context of interior design and architecture, optimizing storage space is indeed a very important which is done here by integrating wall to wall storage. This approach allowed us for a clean and minimalist finish while providing ample storage solutions.

5000 sq ft house

The master bedroom is a focused layout with a central island bed, a preference for lighter shades of veneer, and a minimalistic approach to furniture and colour use. This approach emphasizes simplicity and a calming aesthetic.

The choice of materials and design elements for the second bedroom aims to create a sophisticated and appealing space that complements the elder son’s personality and style preferences.

Charismatic Aura

The contrast between the dark rosewood and the bright white Korean wall cladding creates a striking visual effect, adding to the overall charisma of the room.

The youngest son’s space, who is a backpacker, is designed to resemble a robust cabin with wooden and grey elements.

Creating a cosy and rustic ambiance makes this space feel like a true adventurer’s haven. The special feature here is the TV unit which is concealed in the ceiling.

Kids Room

The kid’s room has a neutral canvas which is a great idea to provide a conducive environment. This is for their activities while avoiding overstimulation from excessive colours. The design promotes creativity, learning, and play while maintaining a calm and uncluttered aesthetic with ample floor space.

A cohesive colour scheme and lighting is used complementing the space. Neutrals like beige, brown, whites and grey are added with pastel colours to add vibrancy and personality to each individual spaces.

The residence exudes refinement, where subtlety is the keynote of its interior design. The curated design brings harmony and balance to every space and transforms the residence into a beautiful and functional space. Thus, it tells a story reflecting personalities, values, and aspirations.
