The 3BHK flat interior design is located at Hiranandani Estate Thane. The area of the house is 1200 sq. ft. After an initial discussion with the client, the vision for this project is to infuse a touch of South Indian aesthetics while seamlessly integrating modern elements. The house enjoys a picturesque view of a beautiful lake and receives abundant natural sunlight throughout the day.

Given the abundance of natural light in the house, we utilized light as a key element in our design approach.
The interplay of light on the dark wood surfaces creates captivating patterns that enhance the entire space, particularly noticeable in the pictures, especially around the mandir.
When focusing on smart space planning, adopting a minimalist design approach with fewer, but well-chosen, furniture and decor items helped create a sense of openness and airiness.
Additionally, using light colours and textures made the space feel more expansive and inviting. Soft, light hues on walls and furniture visually enlarged the room while adding texture through rugs or fabrics, creating depth and interest.
These strategies worked together to maximize the perceived size of the space and enhance its overall appeal.
The marriage of materials in this project was a careful and deliberate process aimed at creating a cohesive and harmonious design. We focused on combining traditional materials with modern finishes to achieve a unique and timeless look.
Designing the mandir has been incredibly rewarding—it’s both challenging and exciting. This particular mandir is one of our favourites. The client wanted it to be the focal point of the house while seamlessly blending with the living room.
To achieve this, we used wood and creatively played with forms and shapes, resulting in a design that stands out yet harmonizes with the overall space.
One key aspect of the marriage of materials was the use of wood. We used solid wood for the mandir, crafting it with intricate detailing to reflect traditional craftsmanship.
This was complemented by modern materials such as glass and metal, which were used for the shelving and accents, adding a contemporary touch to the design.
In terms of colour palette, we chose warm, earthy tones to complement the wood, creating a sense of warmth and coziness. This was further enhanced by the use of natural textures such as stone and rattan, which added depth and interest to the space.
The design narrative that has guided us through this process revolves around the concept of blending traditional elements with modern design principles.
We aimed to create a space that honors the cultural heritage of India while incorporating contemporary aesthetics and functionality.
This narrative inspired us to play with shapes, forms, colors, and textures, creating a harmonious balance between the old and the new.
Additionally, we focused on creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, where each element tells a story. It also contributes to the overall narrative of the space.
One of the key aspects of the design ethos was a focus on craftsmanship and attention to detail. Right from the intricate detailing in the woodwork to the selection of fabrics and finishes it was thoughtfully considered.
This emphasis on craftsmanship not only added to the overall quality of the space but also helped to create a sense of authenticity and character.
