  • This Pre-owned Renovated Office Create An Identity For An Advocate | studiominimus

An aspiring young advocate was setting up his new practice, stepping into a pre-owned renovated office to create an identity for him without letting go of his roots right in the heart of Ahmedabad.

    Design Ideology

Keeping in mind this ideology, we remodeled the existing crammed office into a more open and connected office space. The client briefed us to go for a rustic and vintage theme for his office while capturing ample daylight. An earthy, warm palette was devised for this space, with light beige walls and a splash of walnut furniture. This was to recreate the feel of early 80’s South Bombay offices.

Moving further, the 550-square-foot office was originally fragmented into four zones: two separate cabins, a workstation zone, and the reception area at the entrance.

During the renovation, we retained one of the partitions with one cabin and converted the second cabin into an open office for the workstations. The designers transformed two corner store rooms into service spaces, creating a pantry and a bathroom.

    Mid-Century Setting

The reception area greets you with elegant mid-century traditional seating. Moreover, a light beige-finished low-height storage delineates the open office from the waiting, along with creating a subtle backdrop to appreciate the intricately designed wooden divans and arm chairs.

The head advocate’s worktable held significant sentimental value for the client. Thus, we refurbished the table by gingerly (carefully) dismantling it and reassembling the table to harmonise with our new cabin orientation. Thus, we replaced the worn-out fabric on the tabletop with a beautiful leather-finish laminate from Durian LR 3086.

We came up with more economical solutions due to the budget constraint. This idea inspired the reuse of ancestral chairs, which are made of solid wood that has withstood the test of time.

With the addition of a cushion with beige upholstery and re-polishing, they were ready to use. These chairs and sofas defined the character of the office space.

This Advocate’s office reflects the ideology of the client with its open, warm spatial organisation coalescing with blessings through the ancestral furniture from Petlad.
