Bold, radiant, yet balanced. The House of Hues is a sanguine symphony of eclectic style interior design in a contemporary setting. The brief was simple: “We would want some vibrancy and your creative inputs to make this house a modern, cosy home for our small family.” Taking it up from there, we decided to add various hues to the overall theme. Also, the name is a derivation from the very concept.

What worked well for us was that the clients were well in sync with our design vision. But the challenge was that we had to breathe life into an old home without making any major structural modifications. The starting point for each space was extensive mood boarding, understanding the personality of the user, and translating it to our design scheme.
The formal one has a striking feature wall where each fold of the curved wall was artistically cast in POP, forming the backdrop of the living room.
We went for curved leather panelling on the media unit, which also seamlessly conceals the powder toilet door. Instead of the conventional soft and subdued hues, we went a little playful with bold, vivid hues in an otherwise minimal setting.
The puja room, next to the living room enclosed in glass partitions, has a distressed mirror ceiling and a CNC-cut lotus motif pattern as the backdrop for deities to give a divine and pious feeling.
The most favourite spot of the house became the rear lounge, which literally changed its character and vibe from the sunny day until late in the evening because of the varied possibilities with tasks and decorative lighting to define the mood of the space.
We curated the rear lounge as a culmination of bright colours over an overly dramatic black and white tile flooring.
The glass slider on the parapet wall opens up to greens. Whereas the mini bar, clad in silver chromed ribbed glass, adds a touch of bling to the party area.
The parent’s room was designed keeping in mind his penchant for art and music. where we dedicated one entire wall to a flowy, colourful artwork.
We wanted to create a soothing atmosphere with ample daylight for the user, thus the use of softer hues and elements like rattan mesh on the wardrobe and bed back to give an earthy and relaxed feeling.
Given the young couple’s fondness for hosting guests, we created two lounges: one formal in the common area of the house and one slightly more casual, connected to their master bedroom.
Designed by Arushi Jain and Jitesh Kohli, The House of Hues is a perfect example of how one can balance colours and texture in a space without making it too garish.
