This 30’x40’ Plot Nestled in the Heart of South Bengaluru | Design Matters
The client’s vision for this 30’x40’ plot was to seamlessly accommodate three generations of the family within a single structure, assigning each their own distinct living space across five floors. This innovative design transcends traditional housing arrangements. Thereby, offering the daughter, parents, and son their own private haven within the confines of a 1200 sqft footprint site. Thus, the result is a harmonious blend of individual privacy and communal living, providing a unique solution to urban family dynamics.
However, each family enjoys the convenience of dedicated floors, comprising spacious planning in each floor.
The design of 30’x40’ plot allows for personalization, catering to diverse tastes while maintaining a cohesive architectural language throughout.
Starting from the ground floor’s conveniently situated parking spots, access to the daughter’s residence on the first floor is through a lift and staircase lobby leading to the First floor which accommodates the living, dining and the kitchen.
Moving further, followed by a descent to the ground floor for their individualized spaces-master Bedroom ,study and attached toilet.
The heart of the design lies in the terracotta Jali, a design feature that transforms the interiors into a soft diffused glow. Moreover, the intricate lattice work, reminiscent of the Jali screens found in ancient architecture has been reimagined as a contemporary skylight.
Crafted from the modern materials like metal framework, a vent together allows natural light to filter through. Thus, casting mesmerizing patterns across the floors and walls.
The open- concept living area effortlessly combines traditional craftsmanship with sleek modernfurnishings. Thus, in collaboration with Madonna’s Lighting, accent lighting illuminates the pebble courtyard below and accentuates the brick-clad walls within the expansive double-height area. Thus, stretching from the first floor to the ground floor.
Thus, classic warmth intertwines seamlessly with contemporary artwork adorning the walls, curated by a talented wall mural artist resulting in a harmonious fusion of styles.
On the second floor, the parents find their single floor 2bhk sanctuary, a testament to modern simplicity that prioritizes both functionality and visual allure. Thus here, a generously proportioned living area seamlessly integrates with a kitchen and dining space, fostering connectivity and ease of movement.
Additionally, a covered patio extends the living space into the outdoors, offering a serene haven for moments of relaxation. In the realm of the last two floor duplex, the son presides over a domain where the double-height spaces are accentuated by the presence of a skylight.
The private spaces within the residence continue the theme of balance and comfort. Thus, bedrooms exude a timeless charm with earthy fabrics, elegant furniture, and a color palette inspired by nature.
Furthermore, bathrooms are sanctuaries combining classic fixtures, bold colors, printed motifs with contemporary design for an indulgent experience.
The flooring, adorned with Kota stone with inlays of encaustic tiles exudes a warm and earthy hue that reflects the golden rays of the sun. Moreover, the encaustic tiles featuring intricate patterns and motifs, add a contemporary flair to the interiors creating a visually stunning impression.
The juxtaposition of these prints against the modern furnishings and minimalist design elements creates a harmonious fusion. Thus, turning each room into a gallery of adjacent beauty.
Crafted from terracotta Jali and set within an MS formwork on the terrace floor, showers the interiors with a diffused and ethereal glow. The play of light and shadow adds a poetic dimension to the living spaces, creating an atmosphere that both feels scared and modern.
Inside the house, the sunlight is diffused on the two-floor height raw brick cladded wall -a fusion oftraditional design with a contemporary touch. Moreover, the bricks are arranged in simple intricate patterns which creates a visual rhythm that captivates the eye. The other walls are however, embellished with murals that complement the style of the interior design.
Crowning the jewel of this multifamily dwelling is the rooftop common space on the terrace. It is a shared haven offering panoramic view of the city surroundings.
The form finished concrete roof with groove pattern is an understated. However, these grooves provide texture, depth, and a hint of refinement. This characteristic gives the 30’x40’ plot a simple charm.
One of the defining features of this traditional modern house is its meticulous attention to its materials.Additionally, the exterior is clad in a timeless blend of brick and concrete panels, creating a façade that exudes warmth and sophistication. By day, sunlight dances across the braided brick notches, and at night, their inner radiance lights the surroundings. These extruded bricks masterfully manage light and shadow, evoking the everlasting interaction of gathering and emitting light. Inside, a curated selection of materials such as encaustic tiles, Kota stone, brick cladding and wood complement each other.
