A Minimal and Elegant Apartment Doused in Subtle Colors and Warmth | Nika Design Studio

Editor’s Note: “An absolute elegant abode for an independent woman that expresses simplicity and warmth. The interiors are dipped in soft white tones, contrasting with warm wood and the arches for transitioning from one space to another, adds structure that combines everything together. The choice of furnishings are chic that gels well with the theme of the house where the metallic details subtly amplifies the décor.” – Aditi Doshi

Zoya is one of the most independent, self-made, hardworking, young clients that we have worked with. Zoya works for a renowned financial firm at a coveted post. The name of the project “The SHE-O Home” is inspired from her as it reflects her personality. When she approached us for her home, her brief was very simple. A Minimal and elegant apartment doused in subtle colors and warmth along with a lot of whites.

She majorly works from home and also prefers staying in and playing on her PS in her free time rather than stepping out hence we wanted to create a space for her that is easy on the eyes with warm and welcoming vibe that one does not get tired of.

The space needed to reflect her personality and taste as this is her first independent home. The flat was a complete bare shell and everything has been designed and made from scratch.

The entire home has a very quaint and connected design flow achieved through arches. It adds a lot of character to the space. The arched entry way leads to an elegant living space with an open kitchen. This was done to create an illusion to make the room look spacious and open.

The backdrop of the living seating is honed by a fluted arch with a world map wall mural as it has been a part of Zoya’s fond memories as a child. We broke the monotony of the colour palette through fluted wooden panels on furniture to add more warmth and detailing to the space.

An arched passageway leads the way to the guest room and master bedroom. The guestroom was particularly challenging as the size of the room is small and we had to accommodate a sofa cum bed and appropriate storage space. We managed this by creating a storage around the sofa cum bed while keeping the space opposite it empty to provide a decluttered look.

The master bedroom accommodates a study table, perfect for her to peacefully work from home. A blush pink bed adds vibrancy and livens up the room. A small dressing ledge with a mirror creates the perfect corner to get ready for an evening to unwind.

The entire project has been finished in a uniform texture paint that adds a lot of warmth to the entire space.
