The client is a young couple residing with their parents, their teenage daughter and their dog. This home for them is a place of calm and connect amidst the busy suburb. This meant it needed to exude tranquility, serenity and abundance of natural materials. The vision was to create a place that is simple, warm and openly resonated well with sober design sensibilities. This Mumbai home is a sprawling 2,700 Sq.ft 4BHK dwelling is located in Bandra.

While the house was originally a 5BHK configuration, the client’s requirement was a 4BHK with 3 bedrooms having walk-in wardrobes and luxurious bathrooms, a study room, a large kitchen, and a spacious balcony. The house was completely re planned to meet these requirements.
The main door to this home is done in clear glass. Something that’s rather unusual to find in a Mumbai apartment. Classic chequered flooring imbues a vintage touch to the foyer and is complemented by a wooden sideboard.
The nucleus of this home is the open-plan living and dining area. Since the family loves to host and entertain, the interiors are airy and well-ventilated with furniture that adds to the aesthetics and is functional.
An intricate carpet anchors the wooden dining table with a natural, almost rustic finish giving continuity to the earthy material palette.
The wooden dining table flanked by a hand painted wallpaper. As light shines during different intervals of the day, it creates an interesting interplay of light and shadow.
This modular kitchen features clean-lined cabinetry in matte acrylic finish and an island at the centre. Thecounter tops and backsplash are built in composite stone. The monochrome palette gets a playful lift withpatterned yellow cement flooring, and fluted sliding glass doors bring in texture and light into the space.
A green accent wall gives this bedroom a minty fresh vibe. A sofa cum bed placed in this bedroom makes it adaptive in nature. With a television which blends in as a wall art, this room can be whatever you want it to be.
The immersive primary bedroom provides plenty of space for ease of movement. An antique punctuates the room with a tinge of nostalgia. A minimalist four-poster bed takes centre stage in the main bedroom. Moulded walls lend a Parisian touch to the walls.
A spacious walk-in wardrobe with rattan shutters lend a sense of nostalgia and timelessness to the bedroom.
Inviting warm browns and greys define the parent’s bedroom. Addressing the needs of its senior members, this room is super-functional and sleek. The vintage wooden bed and moulded wall give a timeless finish.
All rooms have a distinct character focused around one highlight element that makes for a visual treat. The décor is thoughtfully harmonized to ensure integration of each space with each other. The design language is soothing and swathed in natural light with materials that age gracefully.
The daughter’s bedroom is a chic space designed for a growing young girl keeping in mind comfort and aesthetics. A wingback headboard transforms this bed into a cozy cave for the perfect slumber. The walk in closet is Carrie Bradshaw inspired–lavish, open, and dreamy.
We have used teak wood extensively procured from Kerala and paired it with classic wainscoting. The use of rattan and precious pieces of repurposed ancestral décor add a tinge of nostalgia. Cement’s mouldability has been leveraged in the washrooms and balcony. The bedrooms have flooring in wood while the living room has wood with an interesting peripheral border in marble. The chequered marble flooring at the entrance foyer adds grandeur. By minimizing the use of colour, characteristics of these materials have been accentuated. Every room tells a story – a story about its people, a story that is woven into a design that resonates and keeps you coming back each and every day. The energizing green flooring and custom made rattan furniture accentuate the planters in this space.
