  • A Muted, Neutral Palette With A Pared-Down Visual Aesthetic Flows Through This Wabi-Sabi House | Aakashi Mehta Designs

The design draws inspiration from the Japanese concept of “Wabi-Sabi”. A muted, neutral palette with a pared-down visual aesthetic flows through this Wabi-Sabi house. The home comprises a bright open-plan living, kitchen and dining space, and three bedrooms.

“The Wabi-Sabi house shows its favours for curves over rigid angles around the house with a fresh set materials that speaks decency and warmth.”- Nishal Sevak(Co-Editor)

Our design philosophy is to create a well-balanced and harmonious space, and our designs reflects the  client’s personalities, so each is unique. Shades of ivory, grey, wood, terrazzo and cane dominate the colour palette and contribute to the sense of cosy sophistication.

The living area has amalgamation of arches, round ceiling with wooden fan, oak and cane for furniture, overall neutral toned upholstery  for the seating and the indirect lighting gives the area a sense of calmness.

The rough brick cladding on TV wall extended with a full height partition made in can over sleek metal fabricated cylinders provides a visual barrier between the living and kitchen while also serving a focal point.

In Dining area the long wall is made up of a combination of Fluted glass profile shutters, white korean, Veneer and smooth grey PU on shutters gives an eye catching view from living area.

The master bedroom has been transformed into calm space to reside and work in by using combination of Grey, beige  and wood.

A heavy cushioned headboard in beige with monochrome art pieces adds charm to space.

The parent’s bedroom has delicate cane and mint upholstery as a backdrop for bed. the arched-cane wardrobe and dressing mirror in arch shape allow it to blend seamlessly with the theme.

Kid’s bedroom serves as a little world for the children, separate and unique from the rest of the household.

The kids wanted soft materials and colours, so we went with Coffee brown, Beige and Coral for their bedroom.
