In the heart of Hyderabad, where urban rhythms and earthy materials pulse against traditions, Mrudula, founder of Diksuchi Design Studio discovered something transformative within a modest three-bedroom apartment. The moment she stepped onto the site, she knew she had found home for her creative vision. This was her canvas for reimagining what her architectural studio would become.
Her design philosophy rests on three foundational pillars: minimal, functional and earthy materials. These tenets weave through every decision, creating spaces that transcend fleeting trends to embrace timeless authenticity. Mrudula approaches design as storytelling, where each element carries narrative weight and emotional resonance.
Urban Rhythms And Earthy Materials Transform This 3BHK Into a Modest Office | Diksuchi Design Studio
A weathered wall bearing a copper- green patina greets visitors at the threshold. The Diksuchi Studio logo rests with pride on this textured backdrop like a signature. A glass door dissolves the barrier between public corridor and private sanctuary, while a warm wooden step marks the entry into creative terrain.
Inside, the reception unfolds with warmth as a gallery of inspiration and memory. To the right, lime plaster embraces the wall in organic textures, playing canvas for an architectural line art that traces the silhouettes of India’s most revered temples and monuments. These drawings capture the essence of structures that have weathered centuries, their forms distilled into elegant strokes honouring tradition.
The left wall celebrates beginnings with a large hand-painted canvas depicting Mrudula’s first project, a visual memoir of the moment that marked her beginning as a designer. This artwork is both an inspiration and reminder, connecting present aspirations to foundational experiences that shaped her journey.
Below this painted metaphor, a sofa draws from the wellsprings of Indian craftsmanship. Wooden cylindrical legs support seating that recalls the simplicity of traditional furniture, where form follows cultural memory. Light cushioning and clean lines define the piece, creating seating that is familiar and refreshingly authentic.
A tufted rug spreads across the floor like a terrazzo composition. White base tones with blocks of ochre, blue and brick red, their arrangement suggesting patterns found in traditional terrazzo surfaces. The rug becomes a bridge between the reception area and the broader design language that flows throughout the studio.
Two center tables complete the arrangement, their surfaces and proportions harmonizing with the aesthetic that threads through the entire space. Behind the sofa, a glass partition maintains visual connection while defining spatial boundaries, allowing glimpses into Mrudula’s private office beyond.
Mrudula’s office reveals itself through these transparent boundaries that preserve privacy while maintaining connection to the studio’s pulse. It is not a corner of authority but her cocoon of creativity. Her desk aligns with the left wall, its terrazzo top supported by sculpted wooden legs that appear to dance beneath the substantial surface.
Her chair faces the glass wall, positioning her gaze towards the hand-painted memoir of her first project and the architectural line art that adorns the reception wall. These visual anchors provide daily inspiration, reminding her of humble origins while pointing towards future ambitions yet to be conceived.
Three chairs face her desk, their cream-colored fronts maintaining professional composure while their backs burst with colorful stripes that sync with the terrazzo language. This playful contradiction reflects the studio’s approach to design, dedicated in purpose yet joyful in expression.
A mirror positioned behind her chair expands the spatial volume. In the corner, a sofa mirrors the reception area’s seating, maintaining design consistency while providing an alternative space forcollaboration or contemplation.
A corner niche, born from the structural skeleton, transforms into opportunity through oak wood shelving that creates display space for objects that inspire and inform. Window blinds in oak tones maintain privacy without sacrificing the natural light that feeds creativity throughout the day.
Above the desk, a pendant light merges wood and metal in sleek harmony, its linear form casting focused illumination for detailed work while contributing to the overall aesthetic dialogue. Grooved wooden cabinetry hugs the wall below the desk, providing storage that maintains the space’s clean lines while adding textural richness through repetitive vertical elements.
The workstation area breathes with openness, rejecting conventional cubicle mentality in favour of collaborative transparency. A custom grooved wooden planter creates subtle separation from the reception area while maintaining visual flow and introducing living elements that soften the workspace’s edges. Eight workstations face the north, their orientation ensuring consistent natural light without glare throughout the working day. No blinds interrupt this natural connection. Additional workstations line the room’s perimeter, offering variety in work environments while maintaining the consistent furniture language that unifies the entire studio.
Black stone flooring flows throughout the space, its surface evoking the worn paths of ancient Indian temples. This foundation elevates both furniture and spirit, creating a sense of walking through sacred spaces where creativity becomes devotion. Oak wood furniture speaks a consistent language throughout the studio, its warm tones and honest grain patterns providing counterpoint to the cool stone below and the neutral walls above. Terrazzo surfaces capture light and scatter it in gentle sparkles, their speckled patterns suggesting the complexity hidden within apparent simplicity.
The color palette draws inspiration from dawn’s first light, embracing warm, earthy materials suggesting renewal and possibility. The space breathes with intentionality, rejecting the temporary in favour of the enduring. Trends dissolve into irrelevance while timeless principles of proportion, material honesty and spatial flow guide every decision. The result feels both, rooted in cultural memory and responsive to contemporary needs.
To Mrudula, this office is not separate from her life. It’s her second home. It holds her mornings, her brainstorms, her tea breaks, her deadlines. She didn’t want sterile partitions or uninspired furniture. She wanted warmth. Familiarity. Longevity. Here, she has crafted a manifesto of her philosophy in built form. The studio stands as proof that the most profound designs emerge when function and poetry converge, creating environments that inspire both those who work within them and the clients who entrust their dreams to the creative process that unfolds here daily.
The conference room extends the studio’s transparent philosophy through glass partitions preserving acoustic privacy while maintaining visual connection to the broader workspace. To the left upon entry, a cabinet combines grooved wooden shutters with terrazzo tops, creating storage, while floating shelves above display earthy materials samples.
The central conference table continues the terrazzo and wood dialogue established throughout the studio, surrounded by six chairs that maintain consistency of earthy materials with other seating throughout the space.
A large television awaits presentations and collaborative reviews, while pendant lighting similar to that found in Mrudula’s office provides task-appropriate illumination for detailed discussions and decision-making sessions.
