  • Tips for Decorating your Home with Stripes

With Summer upon us, the time has come to give your home a fresh touch with some pretty, stripe-inspired patterns. This trend isn’t just ideal for your wardrobe, but it is extremely popular in-home décor too. By incorporating stripes in your home decor, you can make your home more liveable, homely and of course super-trendy.

Here are a few ideas on how you can incorporate stripes into your space:

Walls: Stripes are all the rage in home decorating! They are chic, glam and never go out of style. Make a bold statement by adding stripes to your walls. Horizontal or vertical, wide or thin; they add a dynamic to any room. This can be achieved by buying striped wallpaper and affixing it to the wall or by painting stripes onto your existing wall.

Now this can be problematic for some, with leaking lines when you remove the tape or uneven lines. Make sure you use painter’s tape for a professional finish and you plan the dimensions correctly. You will want to make sure your stripes blend in with the wall and don’t clash with the ceiling or skirting board colours. If one of the stripes is the same colour as the rest of the room, paint this wall first and you can add the stripes on top afterwards. If you don’t feel comfortable tackling the stripes on the wall yourself, but it’s a look you really want, consider hiring a skilled painter near you, to complete the work to a high standard, without the leaky lines!

Bedding: Bedding covers come in an endless amount of styles and sizes from a huge range of suppliers and home stores. Stripes can instantly update the look of a room. To make your bedroom look it’s best, invest in an eye-catching striped bedding set. A stripped bedding set can give your bedroom a graphic punch with a cheerful and bright bed linen for a colourful look.

Curtains: How about stripes on curtains? There’s something effortlessly whimsical about stripes, and this pattern comes in a variety of sizes and colours. Rather than painting the walls, consider painting the walls a nice neutral colour and bring the striped element into the room with curtains and other accessories such as bedding etc. Bring an elegant dose of stripe power to your home hanging striking striped curtains in a room. The stripped curtains don’t just have to be confined to the bedroom and can work equally well in your living or dinning room depending on the layout and style of your hose.

Rugs: A simple but highly effective solution to bringing stripes into your home. Whether it’s a large rug that acts as a centerpiece for your lounge or bedroom, a good quality rug can immediately create the aesthetic you want, with minimal fuss.

Sofa Covers: Add much-needed modern feel to your home decor using timeless and appealing striped sofa covers. Big, small or medium, striped print allows so many options and blends flawlessly with every decor, setting or mood. With colourful stripped covers you don’t need that big statement coloured sofa, you can buy a nice neutral coloured sofa in a range of designs and use the cushions as a way of brightening up the room. This way if you decide its time for a change in a couple of years, it might just be new covers that are required not a new sofa!

Lamps: Create a breezy and fresh ambience in your interiors using exquisite striped lamps. Bright and bold striped lamps are a fantastic way of bringing tons of personality and energy into a space.

Mix and Match: Stripe pattern works well with other patterns like polka dots, florals or plaids. You can mix sizes of patterns, patterns with same or complementary colours, larger prints with smaller prints, there is almost an unlimited amount of possibilities. These tricks are guaranteed to add life and ultimate drama to your home.

Stripes can be added to the home in numerous forms; carpets, plates, towels, rugs, vases, pillows, wallpapers, furniture and many other home decor accessories. For a powerful effect, brighter colours work well while neutral colours look perfect with classic decor. So, this summer make sure your home has a charming stripe effect with right decor items and colour scheme.
