This Vastu Apartment Promotes Positive Energy And Stylish Living | Manali Shah Designs (MS Designs)

[Sassy_Social_Share]

The client envisioned a Vastu apartment that seamlessly blends traditional Vastu principles with a modern, stylish, and inviting aesthetic. The design should promote positive energy flow while maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, ample storage solutions are a priority, ensuring a clutter-free and highly functional space without compromising on elegance. The overall look should strike a balance between spiritual harmony, contemporary sophistication, and practicality.

Editor’s Note: “Rooted in tradition yet embracing modernity, this vastu-inspired haven resonates with personality and purpose. Each space and material narrates a tale of intimacy, beauty, and utility through curated details. Blending various themes into one, this abode invites both peace and energy.” ~ Anusha Sridhar

Planning According to Vastu Principles

This 3000 sq. ft. residence follows all aspects of Vastu, with the designers carefully planning the room locations and selecting colors for every corner. The initial setback arose when the client requested that all four bedrooms receive ample natural daylight while also adhering to Vastu principles, which posed a design challenge. To resolve the same, we relocated the dining area away from the window. Additionally, we incorporated fluted glass sliding doors for the kitchen. This allowed light to pass through, keeping the space bright and harmonious without compromising aesthetics or functionality.

With various generations and a pet in mind, the designers crafted this family home with filleted edges on furniture corners, doorways, and partitions for smooth spatial transitions. A neutral color palette serves as the foundation, offering timeless sophistication, while accent furniture, light fixtures, and upholstery add personality and warmth to the space. Every room has a different look and feel based on the occupant’s taste and the colour palette defined as per Vastu.

Vestibule Area

Using veneer, mirror strips, and black polish, the designers created an illusion of the footwear storage unit. Thus, adding character and a sense of depth to the compact space.

Living and Dining Area

Low-height furniture anchors the living and dining spaces, creating a harmonious blend of openness and drama while maximizing spatial perception. Striking ceiling light fixtures draw the eye upward, creating a dynamic interplay of scale.

A cement sheet-clad wall runs seamlessly from the foyer to the living room, subtly widening with concealed storage units to maximize space while camouflaging the powder toilet and a bedroom door for a polished, uninterrupted visual flow.

Kitchen

The kitchen features two parallel platforms finished in Sea green quartz, complemented by baby powder pink solid shutters at the pace. The upper cabinets add texture and depth with fluted glass shutters, enhancing the visual appeal.

A double sliding door made of wood and fluted glass separates the kitchen from the dining area, allowing the natural daylight to filter through and brighten the space throughout the day.

Master Bedroom

With a spacious layout, the master bedroom features separate his-and-her wardrobe sections, offering optimal functionality through thoughtful design. Embracing a minimalistic concept. The layout ensures ample room around the bed for their morning yoga sessions.

Son’s Room

This room combines an Indocin aesthetic with modern European style, reflecting the client’s preferences. Additionally, the design features elegant mouldings, gold accents, and neutral prints for the headboard.

Designed for seamless integration with the bedroom, the walk-in wardrobe creates a versatile and elegant space, with the sliding door concealing itself behind the TV unit when not in use for a unified look.

Grandmother’s Room

Grandmother’s Room has been designed to provide ample space for easy movement. A Murphy bed is installed on the side wall, offering additional sleeping arrangements for any visiting guests.

The all-white colour scheme was chosen to suit her taste, complemented by subtle touches of silver, grey and pastel blue in the wallpaper and upholstery for a soft, elegant look.

Daughter’s Bedroom

The Daughter’s room is one of my favorites, designed to be a multifunctional, well planned and pet friendly. A blend of Boho and Japandi styles, it features light beige micro-cement walls and ceilings, with rounded furniture edges for safety.

Other Materials like veneer, Rattan and Jute have also been used in different forms in the room. Opposite the study unit, individual panels open up as shelves or a side table for the accent chair with some revealing words and meanings for an interactive touch.

Designed for an illustrator who creates reel, the room offers versatile backdrops. The elevated wardrobe area transforms into a walk-in closet, while a hidden dresser mirror is cleverly concealed behind the painting, adding a unique touch.

The bed’s backdrop features a custom-designed art work, hand-painted on a textured veneer to add depth and character to the space.

Colour scheme in the toilets of the residence is complementing to the color scheme used in the individual rooms.
