Our mission was to create a traditional modern house that captures the essence of traditional Indian design while seamlessly incorporating modern elements. The villa owner envisioned a space that would honour their cultural heritage while offering the comforts and aesthetics of contemporary living.
This Traditional Modern House Offers the Comforts of Contemporary Living | DesignHaaus
The heart of the home is where tradition meets modernity. In these spaces, wooden wall mouldings on plain walls add character and depth, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Wooden pillars not only define the puja area but also serve as elegant partitions in the living area, emphasizing the sacred and communal aspects of the home.
Gold and brass detailing enhance the sense of luxury and tradition, reflecting the rich history of Indian craftsmanship.
Symbolic motifs as wall decor or murals bring cultural stories to life, while vibrant cherry wooden shades, complemented by pops of warm colours like mustard yellow and bottle green, add a dynamic and lively feel.
Wallpapers of flora and fauna animate the space, creating a lively environment. These are balanced by texture-painted walls, which provide a soothing backdrop to the vibrant colours, ensuring a harmonious and balanced aesthetic throughout the home.
The master bedroom’s design intent was to create a focal point around the bed. This was achieved by using a darker wooden shade for the bed frame and adding wooden posts at the four corners, giving it a majestic and traditional feel.
This design choice emphasises the bed as the centrepiece of the room, creating a sense of comfort and elegance.
The children’s bedroom is the most vibrant space in the home, featuring a bright pink and purple colour palette that suits the needs and preferences of the two young residents.
The continuity of wall beading from other areas of the house is maintained here, tying the design together while allowing for a playful and energetic atmosphere.
The multipurpose room on the top floor retains the vibrant wooden shades used throughout the house but transitions towards a darker, more modern aesthetic. This space is designed to be versatile and functional, accommodating various activities while maintaining a cohesive design language.
By carefully blending traditional Indian elements with modern design principles, we have created a home that is both culturally rich and contemporarily stylish. Each space within the villa tells a story, reflecting the owner’s vision and cultural heritage while offering the functionality and aesthetic appeal of modern living. This harmonious blend of tradition and modernity makes the villa a truly unique and inviting home.
