This residence project is a masterful blend of modern minimalism, contemporary art, and functional design, all tailored to meet the unique needs and preferences of the client. The home exudes a sense of calm and sophistication, with every detail meticulously crafted to balance aesthetics, functionality, and the client’s specific requirements, including adherence to Vastu principles.
The design philosophy of the residence project revolves around the principles of minimalism, where less is more, and every element serves a purpose. We have integrated elements into the interior spaces, using forms and geometric patterns to create visual interest without overwhelming the senses. The result is a home that feels both modern and timeless, with clean lines, open spaces, and a neutral colour palette that enhances the sense of light and airiness. Also giving an overall feeling of calm and simplicity.
Editor’s Note: “Baid Niwas, a cozy apartment in Ahmedabad, reflects modern minimalism that integrates timelessness through its interiors. With hints of bold colors, clean and crisp furnishings, and geometric wall installations amidst the neutral and white backgrounds, the house exhibits a sophisticated and serene aura.” ~Anusha Sridhar

The foyer sets the tone for the rest of the house with its bold and contemporary design. A striking wall installation composed of geometric forms in shades of grey and white immediately catches the eye. Adjacent to this installation is a built-in wooden bench with a minimalist design, providing a practical seating area for guests. The bench is paired with a simple, striped cushion that adds a touch of comfort.
The living room is the heart of the home, designed to be both inviting and stylish. A large, plush sectional sofa in a soft, textured fabric anchors the space, offering ample seating for family and guests.
The choice of a neutral colour palette, dominated by whites, greys, and muted greens, creates a serene atmosphere, while pops of colour from the area rug and cushions add warmth and personality.
The walls are crisp white, enhancing the sense of openness and light, while a contemporary, green wall-mounted cabinet adds a pop of colour and visual interest.
The dining and kitchen have a simple design with a highlighting stone top. The artwork serves as the focal point of the room, providing an artistic and dynamic touch to the otherwise neutral setting. Extending towards the kitchen, in the greys, the navy blue herringbone tile backsplash acts as the highlight of the space.
Master Bedroom
The walls are kept clean and simple, allowing the room’s furnishings to stand out. A large mirror with rounded edges is positioned beside the bed, reflecting light and making the space feel larger and more open. The mirror is paired with a low-profile sideboard that adds functionality without overwhelming the space.
The focus is on functionality and aesthetics. These shelves, painted in muted red, extend from the platform bed to become a sitting space adorned with a colourful rug.
This design combines modern elements with practical features, creating a cozy and comforting environment for the daughter to enjoy her various recreational activities.
Using muted tones and clean lines, this room creates a serene and inviting atmosphere. Designed for a teenage boy, it is kept minimal yet elegant to suit their changing age.
The project presented several challenges, particularly in balancing the client’s desire for a minimalist, modern home with the need to incorporate Vastu principles. We tried to navigate these requirements while also optimising space and selecting high-quality materials within budget constraints. Thus, ensuring consistency throughout the house.
This project’s idea is to create a harmonious blend of modern aesthetics, functionality, and traditional principles. The result is a home that feels both serene and sophisticated, tailored to the client’s needs while adhering to a clear and cohesive design vision. Every element, from the installations to the carefully chosen colour palette, contributes to a space that is not only visually stunning but also functional. It is also comfortable and deeply connected to the client’s values and lifestyle.
