Nestled in a serene residential sector of Noida, this renovated house design stands as a revival of architectural ingenuity. Designed by Discover_Pattern, this north-facing site overlooks a lush park, surrounded by G+2 and G+1 villas. Originally an aging structure left untouched for over a decade, the house was reimagined for a family of four and their beloved dog, blending contemporary elegance with the charm of its storied past.

The primary objective of the project was to rejuvenate the existing building through thoughtful façade and interior interventions. Previous architects had attempted to execute the transformation but were unable to see it through due to unforeseen challenges.
The ‘Wing’ element in the façade was a symbolic nod to the client’s long-standing service background, lending the residence its evocative name. One of the key challenges was to work within the existing framework, reusing as many original materials as possible rather than adopting a “break and make” approach.
The homeowners envisioned a highly functional, open-plan living space with dedicated areas to display their extensive art collection, a treasure trove amassed over 30 years of global travel.
“Personalized Artistry in Maximalist Spaces” Wing House posed a unique set of challenges, particularly rectifying the structural modifications made by previous architects.
The goal was to transform the space into a dynamic, personalized art gallery without fragmenting the interiors with excessive paneling or ceiling interventions. By embracing the inherent volume of the house, the design aimed to create an immersive experience where art seamlessly integrates into everyday living.
Given the protracted construction history, the site had accumulated a vast array of discarded raw materials. The design team’s first endeavor was to creatively repurpose these materials, ensuring sustainability while infusing the home with character.
For instance, reclaimed wooden pieces were skillfully reimagined into bespoke doors and furniture, while hollow metal pipes were cut into circular rims and transformed into an intricate MS screen for the backyard. This ethos of repurposing set the foundation for the residence’s aesthetic and functional evolution. The spatial planning adhered to a hierarchy of privacy.
The ground floor was conceptualized as an open, welcoming space for family interactions and guest entertainment.
The upper floor housed three private rooms, offering individual sanctuaries for the family members. The basement served as a vibrant entertainment and office space, balancing work and leisure.
At the heart of the design was the family’s illustrious art collection, displayed with pride throughout the residence. Moreover, a maximalist approach was embraced, weaving together vibrant color palettes, rich textures, and layered design elements that reflected the unique narrative of each space.
Every room functioned as a curated gallery. Where art was not merely an accessory but an intrinsic part of the home’s identity. Further, a recurring motif throughout the residence was the use of wood, particularly in the half-crescent handles adorning doors and wardrobes, an element that subtly tied the interiors together.
Moreover, thoughtfully integrated storage solutions and strategically placed art installations ensured that the collection remained the focal point of the design.
The result was a home that evoked a sense of discovery. Further, it blends timeless elements to create an emotionally resonant environment deeply rooted in the family’s journey through the years.
Wing House is more than just a residence. As, it is a living canvas where design, history, and personal artistry converge, celebrating a narrative that continues to evolve with time.
