  • This Orrish Group Headquarter in Raipur Rethinks the Corporate Office Through Light and Intelligent Design | Studio A

25,000 sq. ft. in Raipur. One powerful idea: to breathe, belong & become. A corporate office should feel purposeful before a single meeting begins. At Orrish Group’s headquarter in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, STUDIO A transformed this principle into reality — not through grand gestures, but through the quiet power of light, material, and intelligent design.

    The Idea That Shaped Everything

The concept was simple yet radical: design a workplace where people feel connected to both the process and the outcome. Not just functional. Memorable. Not just professional. Alive. This became the lens through which every decision was made — from the position of a window to the choice of flooring, from spatial flow to the way morning light hits the reception wall at 10 AM.

    Light as the Primary Architect

Natural light doesn’t just illuminate this office — it defines it. STUDIO A treated daylight as a building material, just tangible as brick or glass. The result? A sophisticated play of slit windows — horizontal, vertical, and full-glazed — that penetrate
and filter light in highly strategic ways.

    headquarter

Horizontal slits draw daylight deep into the workspace while controlling glare. Vertical slits create dramatic shadows that shift throughout the day, marking time on the walls. Full-glazed sections flood key zones with illumination while maintaining visual connection across the entire floor plate.

The play of light and shadow emerges from careful spatial planning in relation to window placements. As sunlight filters through precisely positioned openings, it highlights textures — the grain of timber, the smoothness of glass, the warmth of finishes. The office transforms subtly from morning to evening, creating an atmosphere that feels alive, responsive, human.

Sustainability Woven Into the Spatial Strategy

Sustainability here isn’t a checkbox. It’s the foundation.

Ancillary areas — storage, utilities, circulation — are strategically placed on the western and southern sides, acting as thermal buffers that shield the main workspace from harsh afternoon heat. This isn’t just smart design — it’s a significant reduction in cooling loads and electrical consumption.

Meanwhile, the main office zones face north, harnessing consistent, diffused daylightthroughout the day without glare or overheating. The result? Reduced reliance on artificial lighting and mechanical cooling, lower carbon footprint, and a more comfortable working environment.

Cross-ventilation integrated into the spatial planning further reduces HVAC dependence during transitional seasons. Every square foot works harder, smarter, cleaner.

When Design and Build Become One

The seamless integration of design and build is what makes this project exceptional. STUDIO A maintained continuity from concept to completion, ensuring the design intent remained uncompromised. Creativity, precision, and construction expertise worked in tandem. The result? A workspace where creativity, precision, and execution work in sync, eliminating the typical gaps that occur when design and construction are siloed.

    Materiality That Tells a Story

The material palette is restrained but rich. Marble and wood for flooring that withstands heavy use while maintaining elegance. Glass for partitions that maintain visual connectivity. Nothing is decorative for decoration’s sake. Every material serves a purpose — durability, warmth, texture, longevity. The result is a workplace that feels timeless, not trend-driven.

The Result: A Workplace That Breathes

What distinguishes Orrish Group’s office isn’t a single design gesture. It’s the way every decision contributes to a larger narrative.
Natural light animates the space throughout the day. Strategic zoning reduces energy consumption without compromising comfort. The play of light and shadow creates moments of discovery around every corner. Design and build integration ensures nothing is lost in translation.

For STUDIO A, this is more than a completed project. It’s a statement of what’s possible when ideas are carried through with discipline and clarity. More than a functional workspace, this office demonstrates how design can translate organizational values into built form. Through thoughtful spatial planning, strategic light penetration, passive sustainability, premium materials, and seamless execution, STUDIO A created a workplace where people can truly breathe, belong, and become
