  • This Home with Clean Interiors is a Lively Stream, not a Placid River | Amoeba Design

When Nikhil and Anjali first came to us to design their house with clean interiors, we knew that this journey was going to be nothing short of creating a poetic manifestation of their lives into their home, which we call the ‘Stream House.’ Not very often do you come across clients who are extremely free-spirited and uninhibited, people who are not defined by the norms of society. When we conceptualized their house, we knew it was a lively stream, not a placid river.

Editor’s Note: “The Stream House in Pune perfectly mirrors its owner’s spirit, flowing with the effortless grace of a winding stream. Embracing the purity of Japanese minimalism, the home is a testament to uncluttered beauty, where every element breathes simplicity and calm. The raw wood, rich in texture, infuses the space with a serene intimacy, wrapping it in a warm, comforting embrace. Each corner of the abode tells a story of meticulous craftsmanship, woven with tranquility, creating a harmonious sanctuary that resonates with peace and purity.” ~Simran Khare

This Home with Clean Interiors is a Lively Stream, not a Placid River | Amoeba Design

    Clean Interiors

    Youthful Aura

While rivers wind slowly, gathering water and shaping civilizations along their banks, our design mirrored the youthful energy of a rushing stream akin to that of Nikhil and Anjali. It surged ahead with vigor, embracing its twists and turns as it flowed freely forward.

    Clean Interiors

The design journey of the project commenced with a nod to Japanese minimalism. Moreover drawing inspiration from its clean lines and uncluttered interior aesthetics.

    Clean Interiors

Additionally, we found ourselves inspired by the ethos of Indian architecture, particularly its knack for crafting nested spaces within larger ones.

This influence is palpable in our strategic use of wooden columns and screens, which divide the space and infuse it with a sense of intimacy and intrigue, inviting exploration and revelation at every turn. The interior of this house authentically reflects the genuine essence and the underlying ethos of our design approach.

From the exposed joinery of the table and kitchen cabinets to the crafted wooden elements of the bookstand, every detail is intentionally revealed. This transparency mirrors the sincerity of our clients.

    Clean Interiors

    Details and Craftsmanship

Drawing inspiration from the traditional Shoji paper screens, the wardrobe shutters incorporate frosted glass. These echo this aesthetic, creating a subtle homage to the timeless craftsmanship of Japanese design. Overall, these meticulously crafted details create a visual narrative that reflects the client’s honest and authentic personality. Seamlessly woven together, they highlight significant aspects of their lives, much like the intricate threads of their journey.

    Geometry in Design

The Stream House balances geometric precision with the raw beauty of nature’s imperfections. Instead of letting rigid geometries dominate, the design embraces organic elements, allowing them to shine.

    Walls

The undulating flow of the stream and the gentle curve of the skirting against the wall are highlighted by this juxtaposition. As a result, the geometry remains balanced with the aesthetic. Moreover, a palpable sense of weightlessness permeates the space.

    Ceilings

Whether it’s the columns perched on rugged stone or the vaulted ceilings resting on beams, each element exudes ease and grace. Notably, the vaulted ceilings add drama as light dances along their curves, creating an enchanting play of shadows and illumination.

    Conclusion

Art in the Stream House is not just decoration—it’s a carefully curated collection that tells a story, serving as a timeless homage to the ebb and flow of life. Altogether, these diverse elements converge to showcase the radiant beauty of imperfection—a testament to the inherent richness and complexity of life within the walls of this home.
