Design Challenges

One of the primary challenges in this design was the L-shaped plot, which required strategic spatial planning to ensure seamless movement and functionality. Additionally, aligning the architectural layout with Vastu principles added another layer of complexity. Through thoughtful zoning and material selection, amAC Architects successfully balanced tradition with contemporary design.

The project features open and well-ventilated living areas, where holed bricks not only enhance air permeability but also create a striking visual effect with dynamic light and shadow patterns. The mezzanine area, a unique artistic retreat within the structure, adds depth and versatility to the spatial arrangement. Bedrooms and private spaces are designed to be comfortable and thermally stable, reducing the dependency on artificial cooling.

Climate-Responsive Strategies in Design

By integrating climate-responsive strategies and leveraging the natural properties of holed bricks, this project stands as a testament to amAC Architects’ commitment to environmentally responsible architecture. The Breathing Bricks Project is more than just a building—it is a forward-thinking approach to sustainable living, where aesthetics and functionality coexist in harmony with nature.

The entrance welcomes visitors with an interplay of light and shadow, enhanced by the breathing brick façade that promotes airflow. The spatial design ensures an inviting transition from the exterior to the interior, creating a sense of openness.

The living area acts as a central hub, where the integration of breathable materials fosters a naturally cool and well-lit ambiance. Large openings frame external views, ensuring a connection with the outdoors while maintaining privacy.

Mezzanine – The Artistic Escape

This project features a unique mezzanine area, designed as an artistic retreat. This elevated space provides a visually engaging element that enhances the spatial dynamics of the interior.
