The design concept for the residence revolves around a modern biophilic design interior theme, inspired by the desire to bring the outdoors in while maintaining a sleek, urban sensibility. Biophilic design emphasizes a connection with nature, using natural light, greenery and organic materials to enhance well-being. For this family of 4 – comprising a couple and their two young adults. The goal was to create a home that serves as a sanctuary from the bustling city life, promoting relaxation, interaction, and sense of calm. The theme incorporates warm wood tones, neutral and earthy color palettes, and an open layout to foster a fluid, welcoming environment. Unique lighting fixtures and strategic placement of indoor plants further amplify the natural connection, while functional spaces cater to the family’s daily needs.
The Scandinavian-inspired design, infused with bohemian warmth, forms the backbone of the aesthetic. This approach balances minimalism with textured layers, ensuring the space feels both uncluttered and lived-in. The location in Ahmedabad, known for its rich cultural heritage and evolving modern landscape, influenced the use of locally sourced materials and craftsmanship, aligning with the studio’s sustainable ethos. The result is a home that reflects family’s values- comfort, togetherness, and an appreciation for nature – while staying rooted in the local context.
We desired an open plan living area for family gatherings, a cozy yet stylish bedroom retreat, and a dining space that doubles as a social hub. Sustainability was a key concern, prompting the use of eco friendly materials and energy efficient solutions. Their trust in the studio’s expertise allowed for a collaborative process, where their input shaped a designed according to their lifestyle in Ahmedabad’s dynamic setting. The open planning helps to keep the whole house together rather than splitting all spaces.
The studio proposed a layout that maximizes natural light and ventilation, key elements of the biophilic theme. The living area was envisioned as the hearth of the home, featuring a plush beige sectional sofa adorned with vibrant cushions in earthy hues. A sleek wooden coffee table, anchors the space, while a striped rug with warm tones adds texture.
Sheer curtains frame the windows, enhancing the flow of light, and indoor plants in stylish pots bring a touch of greenery. There is a contrast of polished Italian marble floor with neutral palettes – soft grays, beiges and terracotta enhanced by tapestry in pop up color adding a vibrancy. The play in the tapestry and rugs adding the pop up interior touch brings a different aesthetic though the major theme interior is warmth and neutral colors.
The completed residence is a stunning realization of the initial concept, offering a perfect balance of style and functionality. The living room exudes warmth with its sectional sofa, where the family gathers for movie nights or quiet evenings. The coffee table and ottoman provide additional seating for the members. Large windows flood the space with natural light, highlighting the textured rug and lush plants, creating a serene backdrop for daily life.
The dining area was designed as a multifunctional space, featuring a wooden table surrounded by ergonomic chairs. A striking wooden pendant light with spherical accents serves as a focal point, while open shelving displays curated décor. The kitchen, visible through a glass partition, blends modern appliances with natural materials, ensuring a seamless transition between spaces. The staircase, with its wooden railing and open design, connects the floors while maintaining an airy aesthetic, enhanced by a tree mural wall art ties the biophilic theme together.
The dining area, with its elegant table and unique lighting, serves as a social hub, where meals are shared and memories are made. The kitchen’s modern design complements the natural elements, ensuring a harmonious flow. The staircase with its wooden railing and mural acts as a sculptural centerpiece, linking the living spaces with elegance. Every detail, from the handcrafted rugs to the bespoke lighting, reflects a design that is both personal and universal, tailored to the family’s needs while embracing timeless trends.
Interior plays a major part with its warmth tones. When you enter the house, you are completed isolated from the context and gets you the whole different vibes and aesthetics though the context is just few feet away.
The daughter bedroom incorporates a playful yet functional design, with a floral wall mural in soft pink adding whimsy, paired with a wooden bed and a built-in desk for study.
The use of wood paneling and textured fabrics creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. The daughter bedroom delights with its floral mural and practical layout, fostering creativity and focus.
The bedroom designs evolved to cater to both adults and children. The master bedroom features a minimalist wooden bed with layered textiles in neutral tones. Further, complemented by a desk for a work and a cozy armchair.
Unique pendent lights with wooden accents add a sculptural element, while large windows ensure a bright, airy feel. The master bedroom emerges as a tranquil retreat, with its minimalist design and layered armchair invites reading or relaxation.
This residence stands to show the ability to blend modern design with nature-inspired elements. Located in Ahmedabad, it serves as a model for sustainable living, proving that luxury and eco friendliness can coexist. For family of four, it is more than a home- it is space where every corner tells a story of togetherness, growth, and the harmony with the landscape.
