This 4BHK Takes Inspiration From The Iki In Japanese Aesthetics | Spaxis Design

The beautiful design of this 4BHK takes inspiration from the Iki in Japanese aesthetics, which express carefully calculated simplicity. It encompasses ideals of spontaneity and originality, lacks self-consciousness, and is naturally casually chic.

Although not directly inspired by Japanese architecture or style, “Iki Home” draws inspiration from its core concept. A home that is not just elegant but also has timelessness etched in its very being. A home that is effortless and yet has all the comforts. That is what the beautiful design of this 4BHK “Iki inspired Japanese Home” translates to.

This 4BHK Takes Inspiration From The Iki In Japanese Aesthetics | Spaxis Design

Living Room

The Living Space was visualised as a space for unwinding after a long day of work. The comfy sofa, along with the curved centre table and complementing TV console, are all custom-made. This adds a bit of quirkiness to the minimalistic theme.

A colour palette of greys and blues helps bring out a relaxing atmosphere, while the wooden furniture sets the right tone of warmth for it to feel cosy and snug.

Swing In The Living

When combining two apartments, there are often columns that cannot be touched. Having a swing as a partition ensures open, uninterrupted space while also acting as an effective separation.

The swing is created with the goal of being a luxurious comfort, with patterns that match the furniture of the living room as well as the dining area.

Dining Room

The dining room is an extension of an open kitchen, as is the living room. This makes it an ideal space for entertaining, as it ensures free movement and communication between the three areas. The asymmetric shelves and fixed cabinet at the end of the dining room are a great way to display important memorabilia as well as store crockery and tableware.

The warm color theme of sage greens and wooden browns simmers against the grey-washed walls, achieving a perfect balance of warm and cool tones.

Study Space

Borrowing from the pattern of the shelves in the dining area, this study has open shelving that is great for storage as well as making for an aesthetically pleasing display unit. The wide desk and two closed storage cabinets at each end of it give the couple a space where they can work together.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is tastefully designed with the relaxing hues of greys and blues that supplement the colour palette of the house.

With a secondary wood-panelled headboard and floating side tables, the bed is surely the highlight of the room. The grey panelled wall and the elegant pendant lighting above the side tables are the cherry on top.

Walk-In Closet

With the homeowners not wanting to leave any stone unturned to make their home a luxurious retreat, a walk-in wardrobe was quintessential. Huge closets with tinted glasses, a gigantic mirror, and a dresser with floating shelves make it a dream come true for any fashionista. Not only is it chic in its appearance, but it is also user-functional.

Parents’ Bedroom

Relaxing shades of pastels and beiges douse the parents’ bedroom. While the colour scheme is light, it also radiates a lot of warmth. From the cane sliding doors of the wardrobe to the soft velvet panelled headboard, as well as the slightly curved side tables – every design detail chosen creates a subtle and serene environment.

Guest Bedroom

The guest bedroom is a play of patterns and colours. The slightly curved oblong mirror and the headboard of the bed, both contrast with the straight lines of the bedframe and the side-drawers. The matte-black finish lights, the artistic monochromatic paintings and the patterned black-and-white headboard create a playful amalgamation of blacks and whites in accessorizing the room. What is noteworthy is that none of these combinations takes away from the design. They rather add and create a symbiotic space.

“We always – always – try to conjure a design that meets the requirements of the clients. But what we also do is – we make it aesthetically pleasing. And this is possible only when you listen to the clients. They have vague ideas that we take, work on and make into a functional design,” says Helly Shah and Sanjana Shah – Head Architects of Spaxis design.
