This 2000 sq ft House is an Introspective Take on Modern Indian Interiors | Sky High

“The Mellow Home” – a 2000 sq ft house, is an introspective take on modern Indian interiors, where tactile minimalism meets sculpted warmth, and every design decision is rooted in subtle movement, light control, and quiet drama. Conceived by SKY HIGH, the residence transforms a compact 1000 sq. ft. footprint into a soothing 2-storey haven, where layered materials, muted palettes, and curated details guide the spatial journey.

The design intent was clear: soften the boundaries, celebrate textures, and make every surface perform. With space at a premium, the team turned to integration, blending furniture into walls, minimizing visual clutter, and using ambient lighting to expand volume perception.

Entrance

A striking CNC-carved main door in white introduces the design language, bold, clean, and inviting. The foyer remains compact but expressive, giving a preview of the sculptural narrative that follows inside.

Living Space

The living area is planned for openness and warmth. Fluted wall panels in soft wood tones, minimalist furniture, integrated storage, and a chandelier anchoring the ceiling build a scene of understated luxury. A visual balance between solids and voids helps maintain calm while accommodating utility.

Staircase & Vertical Circulation

Here, glass railings, minimalist storage, and a sculptural chandelier crown the stairwell, which vertically connects the home’s two floors with spatial fluidity and drama.

Bedrooms

Each bedroom carries its own identity yet follows the overall material and lighting language.

Bedroom 1

Curved MDF panels with soft taupe tones, teal headboard, ambient vertical lighting, and floating side units define an elegant resting space.

Bedroom 2

Textured grey surfaces meet a sculptural wave-patterned CNC wall, layered lighting, and rounded desks.

Bedroom- 3

A compact bedroom with full-height wardrobes, vertical mirrors, and a pop of color in bedding makes for a smart youth-centric space.

Inspiration

The project is inspired by the idea of calm movement — where nothing shouts but everything speaks. Sculpted surfaces, soft curves, and hidden transitions were drawn from Japanese minimalism and modern Indian material palettes.

Vertical Circulation: A Choreographed Flow

The staircase acts as both a transition and a visual feature. A transparent glass railing paired with a linear chandelier elevates the narrow volume. Concealed storage beneath the stairs highlights the project’s efficiency-first mindset.

Material Palette: Texture is the Hero

The palette is rich in restraint — taupes, greys, pastel highlights — but what gives the home its soul is texture. From CNC grooving and fluting to wave panels and curved edges, the entire house becomes a tactile experience. Materials are local, finishes are low-maintenance, and craftsmanship is precise.

Tiles from Simpolo, sanitary fixtures by Colstone, Royal Touche laminates, and Asian Paints complete the project with brands that balance quality and durability.
