  • This 1300 sq. ft. House Design Is Tailored To Relax And Unwind | Ladlab

The design brief for this apartment, spanning 1300 sq. ft. house design, aimed to create an open, inviting atmosphere with plenty of natural light. The clients, who have demanding jobs, wanted a home that offered comfort and tranquility, where they could unwind and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. The goal was to design an efficient, functional space that would meet their needs while being aesthetically pleasing. The open floor plan of 1300 sq. ft. house design was key to achieving this, allowing different areas to flow together harmoniously while maintaining a sense of openness and lightness.

Editor’s Note: “A mix of beautifully designed furniture, generous natural light, and intelligent planning defines this apartment in Nagpur. Smart design touches, including hidden structural beams and custom-sized balconies, ensure that every corner is functional. With solid lines, textured upholstery, and exquisite colors, this home is tailored to suit comfort.” ~ Anusha Sridhar

All furniture was custom-designed to ensure it was functional, comfortable, and visually cohesive. This included pieces like the dining table, sofas, beds, window seating, and coffee table. The design approach emphasized subtlety and understated elegance. The entrance foyer, which lacked a traditional vestibule, was creatively transformed to include a bespoke yellow console. This console serves a dual purpose: it stores shoes on one side and doubles as a bar cabinet accessible from the dining area. The low profile design allows unobstructed views, enhancing the sense of space.

    Living Room

In the living room, warm, sand-colored textured walls complement light wood tones and white elements, helping create a relaxing ambiance. The furniture was kept low-profile to maintain a sense of spaciousness, while a custom-designed window seat was added to maximize seating and create a cozy lounging area.

This window seat also provides storage, ensuring both functionality and comfort. My Home Décor custom-designed the sofa, center table, and pouffe, while Dtale Modern crafted the side table. Sculptural artwork by artist Nilesh Ingle and a sleek teakwood stool finished in carbon black polish further enhanced the room’s design.

    Kitchen

In the kitchen, parallel counters were optimized for functionality. The countertops are made from elegant terrazzo quartz slabs sourced from Kalinga. One side of the kitchen features warm dyed oak wood veneer paneling with a ribbed front, which cleverly conceals a Pooja unit. The textured sand-colored backsplash complements the wood, and concealed storage ensures a tidy, clutter-free environment. The other side of the kitchen has matching countertops and backsplash, but with a twist: the upper cabinets are a soft cream, while the lower cabinets are light grey, matching the floor. To maintain a sleek look, the design uses laminate finish cabinets with concealed handles. Thereby, offering practicality.

The apartment’s open-plan layout integrates the living, dining, and kitchen areas, subtly divided by furniture and furnishings. A custom-designed wall-mounted seat next to the dining table provides extra seating and adds to the space’s functionality. The dining area complements two plush upholstered chairs from Dtale Modern, while the wall showcases pictures of travel destinations. Thus, adding a personal touch and a sense of adventure to the room. The custom-designed console in the dining area doubles as a bar cabinet and storage unit, finished in terrazzo quartz with PU-Avorio Senegal shade shutters.

    Master Bedroom

In the master bedroom, light wood finishes and soft beige tones create a soothing atmosphere. The bed, custom-designed for the room, has wooden panels with ribbed detailing and padded cushioning for added comfort.

    1300 sq ft house design

Side tables integrate into the bed frame, creating a cohesive look. Additionally, a study nook doubles as a vanity, with shutters that open to reveal a mirror. The bedroom also features floor-to ceiling corner windows, which bring in natural light and open to a balcony with plants and a cozy lounging area.

To break up the monotony, a black-and-white patterned rug adds contrast, while custom-sized furniture ensures a perfect fit in the available space. Additionally, soft furnishings from D’décor & Warwick, bedding from H&M, and a locally sourced hanging light fixture complete the look.

    Guest Bedroom

The guest bedroom features light-toned finishes, such as oak wood veneer and beige textured laminate on the wardrobes. Thus, creating a soothing ambiance. Placing the bed against the wall with shelves for extra storage, it appears suspended, opening up the room.

Perforated shutters hide the AC unit for a sleek look. The upholstered bed back adds comfort, and hints of green in the fabric enhance the color palette.

A TV mounts on a grooved veneer wall, which transitions into a mirror with hidden vanity storage. Olive green chairs, a drink table, and a rug complete the cohesive design.

    Children’s Bedroom

In the children’s bedroom, a playful retreat emerges with a soft white backdrop, allowing colorful furniture to stand out. The custom beds feature full upholstery with soft corners, ensuring safety and easy maintenance.

The room’s color scheme features shades of grey, green, yellow, and blue, with black accents. Natural light floods the space, making it feel airy and spacious. Ribbed laminate green paneling enhances the walls, providing durability and ease of cleaning.

A custom-designed 2D neon LED art wall light adds personality, while a coordinating green study table with ample storage ensures both style and functionality. Additionally, custom-designing chairs and a center table completes the room.

    Balcony

For the client, a sneaker enthusiast with a collection of Air Jordans, we designed a bespoke glass-panel cabinet to display the collection in the balcony gazebo. Weatherproof upholstered armchairs provide a comfortable spot for enjoying tea or coffee while surrounded by the collection. Additionally, the potted plants bring greenery and a sense of freshness to the space.

The main design challenge for this 1300 sq. ft. house design was fitting all the client’s requirements into the bedrooms, as the original layout had cramped spaces. The design team redesigned the walls and incorporated balconies into the rooms, making the space more functional. However, structural ceiling beams posed a significant challenge. Structural ceiling beams posed a significant challenge. However, creative ceiling designs were developed to conceal them, thereby preserving the spacious feel of the rooms.

The design of this apartment combines functionality with aesthetic appeal, creating a peaceful, open space filled with natural light. Each element was carefully designed, from custom furniture to clever space planning, to suit the clients’ needs and create a home where they can truly relax and unwind.
