Many buyers underestimate this figure or forget to factor it into their savings plan entirely, leaving them scrambling in the final weeks before settlement.

    A licensed conveyancer or solicitor is essential to handle the legal transfer of property ownership. Expect to pay anywhere from $800 to $2,500 depending on the complexity of your transaction and the state you’re in. Settlement agents typically cost around $1,500 on average. These fees cover title searches, contract reviews, liaising with your lender, and registering the transfer, tasks that are non-negotiable and easy to forget when you’re focused on the excitement of the purchase.

    Building and Pest Inspections

    Skipping inspections to save a few hundred dollars is a false economy.
