The Modern Victorian Themed Apartment Interior | O’nest Interiors
our minimalist design concept reflected not only in the furniture designed as well as in mood and the color palette used throughout the apartment
This is a 2 Bhk Apartment in a high rise building in Bandra West, Mumbai, designed in such a way to create a home that is luxurious yet precedent to the utility. The client was a young and enthusiastic couple who were both quirky and sophisticated.
They wanted a home that was minimalist as well as true to all their utility and at the same time they were awestruck by Victorian and zen feelThereby to fulfill their expectation for their dream house,  we followed minimalist themes in the living room, Modern Victorian in the master bedroom and concluded with Zen feel in their guest bedroom, providing them the best of both the worlds.
Owing to space constraint, our minimalist design concept reflected not only in the furniture designed as well as in mood and the color palette used throughout the apartment, so as to boost the size of the apartment.

Grey color was predominantly used as it complimented the Statuario flooring. We used it in variations with lilac in the living room and teal in the master bedroom. The living room is compact included a crockery unit cum bar finished in white Duco and Statuario marble. A niche was created in the same to accommodate a ledge that could be used as an extension to the small breakfast table when visited by guests. While the white Duco on the full-length unit helped the unit from looking overpowering, the Statuario niche with indirect lighting added a breakthrough and a much-needed spunk.

The In and Out Teak TV paneling adorned by a grey low height console, the stand-alone tall unit at the entrance high lightened by a Victorian chandelier over it, were the other elements that consisted of the room.
The Victorian theme was followed in the main door too, in which intricate paneling swelled up in one half and a black abstract jali in the other half of the door, making the first impression of the house a lasting one. The lion-faced door handle in black ms finish reminded us that every small detail has a story to tell and an intrinsic part to play. The Lilac color added through an accent chair and cushions made the whole living room look harmonious and plush.

The modern Victorian theme was imparted to the Master Bedroom, where shades of grey and teal perfectly amalgamated. Traditional Victorian interiors were usually dark and ornate, rich in paneling and detailing. Here we added a modern twist by adding fresh whites to the walls and light neutral grey color to the wall paneling further enhanced by the lush pleated teal bed back in suede, keeping the richness quotient intact.

A dash of gold through the brass legged pouf, wardrobe handle detailing and gold bordered mirror completed the ensemble of the room. The brass pendant light hovering over the bespoke side tables is a testimony to the Victorian feel generated to the room yet it does not feel overpowering.
The Gold stand-alone mirror at the entrance of the room not only acts as statement furniture but also adds to the expanse of the room. The guest bedroom, on the other hand, was designed in total contrast inspired by the Zen feel. The color palette of this room was elevated by using sunshine yellow, floral Japanese wallpaper behind the bed. This not only made the room look vibrant but also blended with the rich teak veneer used on the bed and wardrobe.

Grey color was retained in this room too through handles and niche of the wardrobe. The asymmetric concealed wardrobe handles, finished in grey Duco, were a highlight of the room. Truly said color is simple energy, energy made visible. The neutral Jute curtains to this room added the right amount of diversity through a material, thus completing the saga of the room and blending the whole house together as one entity.
