The Home in Surat Stands As A Testament To Minimal Intervention | Rachaita Architects

Starting the architectural adventure, the ground floor presents itself as a useful sanctuary that offers parking and functions as an adaptable area for public gatherings. The connecting staircase elegantly accesses the home’s heart, located on the upper floor.

The living room, Pooja, kitchen, and dining spaces are located on the first floor, which is altogether in the public domain. The living area further flows to a balcony, forming a semi-open sanctuary that skillfully combines the indoors and outside.

Pooja space is essential, so we placed it in the corner of the house and beside the balcony view. Embossed lotus acts for Hindu goddesses and steps of arches define the depth of positivity.

The architectural significance of a symbolic balcony column enhances the structural beauty of the entire house. Complying with the client’s requirements, the second story has two master suites with expansive views of the plot’s lush side. Meanwhile, the external façade exhibits a rugged appearance, conveying a sturdy cube-like structure.

    Living Area

The living area on the first level is furnished with tastefully chosen furniture that strikes a fine balance between practicality and efficient use of available space.

Off-white curtains serve two purposes: they diffuse light and create a visual connection between the inside and outside. The intentional use of furniture is symbolized by a TV mounted on a four foot-tall wall, further supporting the minimalist aesthetic.

Italian marble floors, gypsum-patterned ceilings, and minimal furniture combine to produce a visually arresting contrast that reflects a freeing sense of open space.

    Bedrooms

Transitioning to the second floor, each bedroom introduces a distinct aesthetic while adhering to the overarching theme of minimalism.

Since the interior palette embraces various colours, they are strategically employed to enhance spatial value within the aesthetic realm.

Open spaces and minimal furniture characterize the bedrooms, providing a serene retreat.

Printed wallpaper becomes a captivating backdrop, contributing to the overall spatial experience within the confines of each room.

In the third destination, we place a small theater room with minimalistic interior design. We intentionally use minimal furniture and emphasize the ceiling to seamlessly complement the Italian flooring and wall colors, ensuring a consistent minimalistic contrast throughout the entirety of the house.

The interior intervention skillfully combines minimalist elements with modern aesthetics to satisfy the client’s demand for minimalism.

Hence, the “Nilkanth” project transcends its physical dimensions, becoming a living canvas that embodies the fusion of minimalism and contemporary design.

The space not only meets the client’s vision but transforms into a haven of tranquility.

Overall, it becomes a space where simplicity and design seamlessly coexist through thoughtful architectural choices and meticulous interior interventions.
