A striking red entrance door placed at an angle and a red wall cladded with fluted-tiles greets the visitor inward. Each time the door swings open, a carefully designed counter-weight moves with it, initiating a dramatic entry.
Near the entrance, a lush green display of the latest or most popular stand-alone basins grows into a life of its own. From one of a kind pieces which may be propped up on a pedestal or stone-carved from a monolith, this section is a glimpse of the many possibilities of bath-fixtures as art.
The showroom is essentially divided into three zones; a visually open area displaying sanitaryware, niches with thematic mock-ups and a live-experience area. With an intent to showcase a wide range of products in inventive ways, the design comes together with the play of light, texture and exquisite materials.
Working with the constraint of the conventional seven foot eight inch high ceiling, The Crossboundaries created a sense of expansiveness with the use of a mirrored ceiling. The absence of natural light too was a challenge, addressed by the reflective quality of a mirrored ceiling and ample artificial lighting.
Under the illusion of an ‘infinite’ ceiling, an angular display in one area and mock-up coves near the entrance together create a dazzling world of bath delights. The HVAC units are neatly concealed through the downthrow grilled units, with AHUs hidden within the mirrored ceiling.
An arrangement of low-walls, cladded in spectacular black marquina tile hold an array of premium sanitary ware, from fancy w/cs to swanky wash basins, tiles and beautiful bidets. Triangular half-walls hold planters, from which lush green plants bring life to the space.
A compact live-shower area, complete with visually transparent doors and a backsplash for safety becomes an excellent space for an immersive, real-time demonstration. Across this area, a display with openable flaps reveals a curation of various tile options.
As a central element to the showroom space, three parallel angular low-walls create a dynamic display of select wash basin and wc brands. The ends of these walled displays feature intelligent w/cs and a seating nook, for customers to admire the wonders of bathware around.
Diagonals and angles create a mesmerizing environment, sure to grab the customer’s curiosity in the diversity of products as well as product-displays. Throughout, an angular tiled flooring in matt-grey accentuates the focus on the products Additionally, the services and profile lights are neatly tucked into the mirrored ceiling, giving a seamless and integrated look to the space.
The highlight of the showroom experience is a series of five mock-ups in distinct alcoves, exhibiting the possibilities in functionality and style through different scenarios. Set within a stunning black & white checkered tiled floor, product-offerings are artfully imagined in a life-like scene.
The play of diagonals and angles continues, as the tiled flooring extends as a layer of angular lines, to which the desk’s legs also align. Another interesting, layered feature extending across the floor space is a linear timeline of the company, embedded in brass lettering…with each year becoming a milestone in the store’s journey.
In one cove imbued in whites, a delicate filigree-like inlay in tiles is displayed, befitting a pooja room scene. In a trip down the tropics, the next alcove is a vibrant, hand-patterned mosaic as a backdrop to a powder-room. The precisely laid mosaic tiles create a lively collage of lush foliage, on which a pink neon sign is an artfully thrilling element.
Adjacently, almost as a contrast, the next alcove is a haven of white fluted tiles, holding space for ample greens as a live backdrop. A two-tier display of basins, vertically and conventionally allows for a holistic and interesting view of these pristine designs.
Next, in a departure from the whites, a visually stunning black and green composition presents the best products from Kohler. The black mosaic with a moss-green feature wall sets a luxurious tone to the experience.
Furthermore, the pièce de résistance — a limited edition[1] basin ‘Quila’ by Kohler, painted by artist Jay Prakash is displayed in its glamorous best. Through these glimpses, customers can imagine the best possible outcomes for different nooks.
Beyond the open display area lies an open-layout customer-service desk and employee area. While the mirrored ceiling gives way to a dark grey painted ceiling here, the highlight of this space lies in the tailor-made details. An amorphous metallic ring, tinted in red, holds spherical LED lights like cosmic objects in an orbit. This custom-designed lighting fixture deftly combines lightness of form with the gravity of orb-like lights in mirror finish, bringing newness to the space. Under the light, the desk space for a manager with a customer-seating across flashes hints of red inlay within a grey table top.
On the other side of the low-heighted product display, an experience zone equipped with a tv screen allows customers to fully visualize the products in their utility setting.
Below the screen, a custom-made sleek table in metallic-microcrete and propped up on metal legs showcases exclusive basins from the metallic series.
Along the back wall, an arrangement of faucets, showers and bathroom accessories, teeming with multiple product options is an extensive vertical display. The dark backdrop and feature lighting allows focus on the details of bathroom fixtures, infused with drama and style!
