  • Jungle Theme Occupies This Nature-Colored Kerala Dwelling | CLAY COOP ARCHITECTS

‘Breen’ brings greenery inside through its jungle theme ideology all while being immersed in colors of nature.

A home is cradled with spaces of deep soul, where colors and tranquility blend to create a jungle retreat, giving life to ‘breen’. The word ‘breen’ is derived from the combination of dark brown and green, reflecting the interior’s theme that provide serene warmth, epitomizing the user’s desire to inhabit the space.

Editor’s Note: An assortment of warm wood furniture and indoor plants gives life to the jungle-themed abode. It takes the resident to a tropical forest retreat while living in a city. The yellow parallel bars that separate the inside from the outside have the right tone, which suits both aspects. The striking aspect of this design is that the vibrant art etched on the walls adds character to the interiors. – Gopika Pramod

Jungle Theme Occupies This Nature-Colored Kerala Dwelling | CLAY COOP ARCHITECTS

Breen house, spanning 2450 square feet in Koduvally, Calicut is themed around the fusion of urban forestry and indoor textures using locally available materials. Breen narrates the tale of neutral tones and vibrant, eye-catching colours that infuse the space with an atmosphere that harmonizes with sunlight streaming inside. The art displayed on the living spaces’ wall merges with the greenery outside the veranda, creating a play of shadows from the path of sun inside.

The transition from indoors to outdoors is partially partitioned with parallel yellow bars, arranged in a series, adorned with green vines that illuminate the space. The integration of these spaces with a simple, interactive buffer encourages family activities and welcomes guests.

The tropical landscape inspired art featuring Indigo, ice blue and shades of blue mixing up with greenish hues and ochre sends out the overwhelm. The exterior façade is an assembly of varied elements amplified as a threshold in a raw texture of cement exposed wall dissolved with green plants see-through to outside.

The bedrooms have designed with a modern tropical traditional approach keeping in mind curating personalized fabrics, colours and furniture gives feel good and cozy to the individual. The placement of opening with glass partition allows the sunlight to enter which makes the space feeling solace.  The bedroom’s layout clearly partitioned through visual connection extends till the private balcony. Clay roof tile articulates the volume in the spaces which also reduces the interior temperature and in other hand the wooden detail of the ceiling is a remarkable in the design.

Crafted design of movables has been created through artistic aesthete in addition with purpose on day-to-day objects made of teak and light-coloured ash wood of seamless sleek texture effect. The polished raw lapotra granite floor delivers a modern traditional look giving a contrast ambience to the volume. The custom-made wooden doors, window shutters and curtain rails show the level of keenness in design.

“The home is undoubtedly a special place that belong to us, bringing spirit of outdoor landscape tangibly to inside as we desired, making us ‘at home’” says the client. The lush green design ethos, executed in a simple and orderly manner, ensures the tranquillity of the space and sets the project apart.
