  • Approach To Design Was To Keep Functionality As Top Priority | Oll Korrect Design Studio

The approach to design was to keep functionality as top priority and then build on the look and feel of the house. The clients had decided upon bringing in some old walnut furniture that had been passed on to them through generations. Most of this furniture was made out of teak and had some brass handles and inlays, in order to respect this language all the furniture has been finished with teak veneer and tends to blend in with the furniture being brought.

    approach to design

In this bungalow nestled in the valleys, embrace the richness of teak wood for a warm and timeless ambiance. Craft custom furniture pieces, flooring, and accent details from teak to infuse a sense of luxury. Combine it with plush upholstery in neutral tones to create a soothing atmosphere.

While keeping a fine balance between the old and new, the material palette furniture design and experience of the house was curated. Use of teak veneer, fluted glass, subtle shades of white and gray were used to ensure a balance of colors and materials.

It was imperative to use materials that complimented the color palette but needed to have a characteristic of its own and hence we have highlighted many surfaces with grooves/textures.

    approach to design

The house serves as a family home nestled in the valleys of Bhugaon and connecting the indoors with the well-planned landscape in the side yard.

The rooms on the first floor have high double-pitched ceilings and we have taken the opportunity to provide a wooden truss and accentuate the height of the room visually making it feel like a room from a cabin in the woods.
