An interior style that agrees with a simplistic mood | Aarthaa Design Studio

Founder and principal designer of Aarthaa Design Studio, Shilpa Srinivas and Nithin crafted The Sujay Residence that lives larger than its 900 sq. ft. in the IT capital of India, Bengaluru. Incorporating a soothing colour palette and modernist interior style, the home showcases different moods that blend harmoniously with a simple false ceiling detail and concealed lights throughout.

An interior style that agrees with a simplistic mood | AARTHAA DESIGN STUDIO

On entering this home, the first thing that catches one’s attention is the media unit with a fairly large wall along with slightly open-close storage at one end and keeping the other end simple by using marble textured wallpaper with brass inlays. The living room is adorned with light and bright colours and furniture’s adjacent to a wall which is texture painted in mushroom colour from Asian paints matching to the overall theme. Volume to remain upright is achieved by the curtains from the ceiling with channels. Keeping the other end simple by using marble textured wallpaper with brass inlays.

Taking it as a challenge, the designers have conceptualised the interior of the home with very minimal space to work with. The essential functions of the residence to distribute wall-to-wall, using a colour tone that makes compact space feel much more open, finding an efficient layout has been brought about.

“The owners brief was to have a soothing colour Scheme with a modern twist.” says Shilpa. Despite its aesthetic sense and covetable accessories, what ties the home and the couple together is its functionality.

Moving ahead, a custom-made crockery unit wrapped in solid teak wood with glass shutters displays the dinnerware. Designed with a simple layout is the kitchen with mint green colour lower cabinet to add that much needed pop of colour in the house. All the appliances are efficiently installed, which also features storage units.

“Since the client preferred to retain the granite countertop given by the builder we opted for a Matt black g-profile handle. White subway dado tiles are laid in brick pattern and above cabinet colours are matched to it.” says Shilpa. The storage units in this space knits an interesting interplay between clutter and simplicity.

As we enter the master bedroom, we’re greeted with colours that go well together. Bed wall niche is emphasised with wallpaper and the headboard is cladded with vertical leather panels. The wardrobes are designed to be a conversation starter, with different shades coming together to showcase distinct looks.

On one corner is a dressing setup, while the window corner of the room holds a study desk, featuring a black armchair and quirky bulb feet to enhance the child-like equation of the room. The custom bed is low height along with hydraulic lift up for storage. Side tables are finished in oak laminate with black knobs complimented by brass finished pendant light on both sides. Beautifully blending the pastels in the scheme of things, without making it overwhelming, the designers created a space where practicality meets convenience.
