Situated in Bangalore, This 5500 sq.ft home is a renovation project with Balinese Interiors that has been done in collaboration between CozyNest Interiors and Desquare Architects. The clients approached me with the brief about having a larger home than the present one and the idea took off about renovating this home.
Editor’s Note: The uninterrupted relation between the indoors and the outdoors is celebrated in the renovation of this residence by weaving a story with the French windows, alluring skylights, the ochre chairs, and the cozy garden on the outside. The staircase with the vaulted ceiling is a marvelous piece of art which combines the whole narrative of this heavenly abode. ~ Simran Khare
A Renovation Project With Balinese Interiors | CozyNest Interiors & Desquare Architects
After onboarding Architect Naveen of Desquare Architects, we worked in tandem to give the clients the home that they envisioned. Balinese style interiors were the concept and all the materials used weave a story of Balinese style home.
Retaining 30% of the old structure and demolishing the rest, the home was rebuilt keeping to all the requirements of the family.
A custom-made door with teak wood flutes creates the perfect prelude to what is done inside. The foyer with Bharat Floorings concrete tiles makes an instant impression of an earthy palette and cozy interiors.
An inviting living room with vaulted ceiling covered with banana-fiber panels leaves no doubt that this is a Bali-themed home.
The intricately veined marble floor is luxurious and enhances the depth of the various design elements. A live-edge coffee table, plush sofas, ochre-clad chairs and breezy linen curtains are part of the serene ensemble.
The dining area with a live-edge table and cane backed chairs acts as a central achor to the two halves of the house.
Large glass sliding doors with skylights flood this space with light and seamlessly bring the garden indoors. The focal point of the house is an ornately adorned Pooja Room nestled amidst a serene water body, brilliantly designed by the architect.
Dry kitchen set up with an island cook top ,thus freeing up space on the counters.
Swoon worthy pooja room was completely conceptualized by @desquarearchitects. Interiors were designed by yours truly.
The staircase, another stunning element designed by the architect, takes you to the family room with a vaulted ceiling.
The master bedroom has the Bali element with a massive carved headboard and repurposed furniture. Large skylights make this space warm and airy.
Gorgeous powder room with circular mirror and a high top washbasin with the wall tap mounted on the mirror.
Grey texture paint perfectly juxtaposes the green velvet sofas. A floor to ceiling library is the perfect place for book lovers.
Other bedrooms in the ground and first floor have elements like Georgian moldings, a platform bed and fluted wall with pine wood clad ceiling.
The home theatre with a multi-level seating and dynamic cove and profile lighting sets the right ambience to grab some popcorn and catch a movie.
A small, covered area in the garden is a good space to read the morning paper and have coffee. Overall, with plantation and Bali vibes, this home always has the owners wanting to come back home.
