A Narrative Of An Intricate Balance Between Aesthetics And Functionality | Studio Yamini

A slice of timelessness moulded in a modern variety is what this beautiful penthouse is all about. It is a narrative of an intricate balance between aesthetics and functionality. Nestled in a low-density area, the penthouse is blessed with a generous glimpse of the azure sky and the green expanse. The height gives a heart-warming view of the abutting green expanse.

Editor’s Note: There are undoubtedly a number of elements housed within the M.S. Penthouse that are delectable additions. The double-height unit with a symbolic piece of lighting and the singular but multi-expressional use of wood are to name a few. The balcony seating has a genuine feeling of comfort to invite people over and intimate gatherings. ~ Nishal Sevak

A Narrative Of An Intricate Balance Between Aesthetics And Functionality | Studio Yamini

Visit: Studio Yamini

The clients are a family of three; a young couple with a daughter for whom we have designed this beautiful penthouse. The clients had very minimalistic requirements which enabled us to visualise and explore different things in the overall layout.

It narrates a story of equilibrium between textures, patterns and solids, A delightful collision explored through design elements, upholstery and finishes. A dramatic essence is generated as we traverse through this beautiful penthouse which generates a dynamic textural experience.

The entire mood of the house is fabricated to make you feel welcomed in its warm embrace. The material palette is kept minimal, where the materials complement each other in order to weave the balance between the three. The design engulfs the entire underfoot of the house in an elaborate chevron pattern crafted in the wooden textured tiles.

The living room has been developed as a cosy space which is provided privacy from the main door through a geometric patterned screen custom designed by the studio which also acts as a foyer before entering into the main living room.

The living room and dining area are divided to provide privacy to the dining area. The brass lights accentuate the dining area.

A minimalistic fabricated staircase leads us to the upper level which houses the media room, the daughters’ bedroom and the master bedroom.

A beautiful conversation between upholstered patterned walls and the warm wooden underfoot is witnessed in the media room which is equipped with necessary acoustics and technology.

Achromatic walls and ceiling perpetuate through the entire space drawing the attention towards the bold furniture that is housed in the space.

The daughter is quite young, so the direction was derived through designating the design language of solid and texture.

It is dominantly explored in grey monochrome which renders a character to the bedroom with pink in upholstery adding the necessary charm. Strategically designed furniture makes the bedroom functionally more viable.

With the extensive veneer clad walls and ceiling, the master bedroom is adorned with warm hues making the space cosier and more comfortable, the layout is conceived in two parts, a seating and a place for sleeping.

The material palette is minimal with the warmth of the wood and achromatic walls in support. The masters’ chamber harmoniously blends in with the mood of the entire house creating a soulful place to retreat.

All in all, this house is an exquisite panorama featuring the layering of the patterns, textures and solids which adds a sensory dynamism to the entire house. The M S Penthouse is a wonderful example of a luxury house done to explore the textural and tactile quality of various materials. The house fulfils the aspirational expectations of its clients to deliver an outcome that is visually arresting and functionally efficient.
