    Material Variation

It would be a place where people could come to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of their surroundings. The team used simulation software to design the structure. This helped them predict performance and support the design philosophy. It ensures energy efficiency, water efficiency and resource efficiency, along with improving the indoor environment quality.

    Purposeful Living

This house showcases the power of purposeful spatial design and planning, to deliver functionality and charm. The team designed the entire house for a typical Indian family. It brings multiple generations together and encourages them to spend time with one another. The architecture, finishes and features of the space also take into consideration the relationship between the occupant’s wellbeing and the impact of the built environment. It holistically addresses physical, emotional, intellectual and social wellbeing of the occupants and works towards enhancing the quality of life.

    Seamless Integration

The team designed this farmhouse to blur the boundaries between architecture and interior design. They brought both disciplines together to create one cohesive spatial experience. Instead of treating the interiors as a separate layer, they integrated them into the architecture from the start. The architecture carries and expresses the interior language throughout the farmhouse. The team carefully used materials, textures, and details to support both function and aesthetics. This approach creates a seamless connection between the built form and its interiors.

    Vernacular

    Raw Materiality

The team deliberately minimised the use of applied and decorative elements. Instead, they developed key architectural features to shape the interior experience. They introduced exposed brick accent walls to bring warmth, texture, and character to the spaces. These walls also visually anchor the interiors while connecting them to the rural setting. Their natural texture adds material richness and a sense of honesty. This approach enhances the experience without relying on unnecessary decoration.

    Flooring Rhythms

The team uses variations in flooring patterns and materials to articulate different spaces. This approach adds definition and character to the interiors. These subtle shifts in flooring not only help define movement and usage zones but also introduce a layered sensibility to the interiors, reinforcing spatial hierarchy and rhythm.

    Terracotta Ceiling

A significant innovation in the project lies in the ceiling treatment. Eschewing conventional false ceilings, terracotta pots have been inlaid into the slab, creating a distinctive architectural feature that simultaneously addresses climatic responsiveness, acoustic moderation, and visual interest. This gesture transforms the ceiling from a passive surface into an expressive design element that defines the identity of the space.

    Architecture as Interior

Through this integrated approach, the design eliminates the need for conventional interior embellishments. The architecture itself performs the role of the interior — resulting in a spatial language that is honest, efficient, and emotionally resonant. This project aims to demonstrate that when architectural elements are thoughtfully crafted, they can embody the interior narrative in full, leading to a built environment that feels complete, contextually grounded, and experientially rich.

The furniture in the bedrooms and living spaces was thoughtfully crafted using reclaimed elements from the client’s dismantled ancestral home in the village. Old wooden columns, posts, and furniture pieces were carefully collected, brought to the site, and meticulously refurbished. Each piece was given a new life, preserving its original character while adding a sense of history and personal connection to the home.

This farmhouse kitchen blends rustic charm with soft elegance through a warm palette of wood and sage green. The cabinetry features sage green tones with rattan work in the shutters, adding texture and a natural touch. Polished granite countertops in black provides a refined contrast, while rattan pendant lights and open wooden shelves enhance the cozy, organic feel.
