  • A Modern Beautiful House Design That Is Best Of Both Worlds | Alaukik Architects

We introduce a modern beautiful house design that seamlessly blends the best of both worlds. Nestled in the heart of Aurangabad, it stands prominently in an urban setting. This modern beautiful house stands as a testament to the enduring allure of classic design in a traditional contemporary setting. The design was made into three major philosophies. Initial being the surroundings it exists within, the spirit of the client, and the essence of the space. Starting from the ground floor’s convenient parking spots, the area includes a servant’s quarter and a landscaped marginal zone. The front entry features a themed wall adorned with customised traditional crafts: terracotta tiles moulded with elephant and village motifs.

The entrance features a brightly lit wooden ceiling lobby and a traditional Kuttchi Lipan frame showcasing Ganesha’s various names on a textured wall. This leads to a multi-floor residence for a nuclear family. Each floor is designed for a distinct function, following the “form follows function” concept. The first floor was meant to have a smaller footprint. It is a functional floor and accommodates a big formal living room, a kitchen, and two guest rooms.

Editor’s Note: “In this Ahmedabad residence, a seamless fusion of neutral hues, functionality, and comfort reigns. Earthy tones mingle with gentle prints and intricately textured walls, infusing depth into every corner while preserving a modern aesthetic. Throughout the dwelling, a subtle sense of minimalism interplays with comfort and refinement, crafting an ambience that welcomes with its warmth and sophistication.” ~Simran Khare

    Living Room

The second floor features a curved wooden ceiling and a white ornamented wall, separating public and semi-public areas. The expansive living area on the west is bathed in serene white and versatile wood accents.

Although this combination is every bit classy, it is layered with a subtle choice of marble effect flooring. A statement of creation devours this space.

Additionally, the TV unit faces long, Indo-western-style seating, blending seamlessly with the panelled ceiling. Art subtly integrates, with a koi fish frame adding colour. Off-white curtains diffuse light and also connect inside and outside, enhancing serenity. Furthermore, the corner plants add to the calm, completing the soothing ambience.

    Kitchen-Dining

Entered through a dramatic passageway with a louvred and veneered ceiling above and an abstractly laid flooring pattern below, creating an entryway for the space, kitchen is designed functionally with a sitting platform specially designed keeping daily practice in mind. The heart of the kitchen lies in herringbone-style bold-shaded wall tiles, breaking the uniformity of the grey shade with a pine ceiling placed in the same pattern above. The living area and dining area, however, sets a thin line of functionality.

Also, the backdrop in the dining area is a continuous part designed to merge the kitchen with the dining area’s continuity, having pyramidal ceilings with diffused light that gives the perfect ambience vibe.

    Third floor

The most dramatic and informal floor is designed for family and close friends to spend time with and also to unwind in the evening, where one enters from a big inlaid veneer double door and a curved white ceiling above, and a designed panelled wall with a hidden door in front welcomes you with playful blue and grey coloured geometrical flooring. The idea behind the flooring was that every time you see it, it will make you think of hundreds and thousands of different ideas and strike new things, which ultimately opens the creative flow accompanied by curved sofas added to the same colour palette and balances the themes.

Moving further, leading you to two guest rooms at one and a theme-covered terrace on the other side that flows you with patterned flooring and a filler slab ceiling above with a lush landscape and customised metal flamingoes for a blue-textured theme wall, adding essence to the area.

    Bedrooms

The bungalow with eight bedrooms each introduces a distinct aesthetic while adhering to the overarching theme of minimalism, and different colour palettes are chosen for different identities. Dipped in shades of red, with a curved floating bed back that touches the ceiling.

“This bedroom is all about finding the finer details with the paint finish on the furniture; there is a sleek feeling of execution here.”. Moreover, the bed back is layered in fabrics that have a dedicated fit, with matching linens as well.

The room is attached to a balcony, thoroughly opening up on the back façade and looking over through sliding folding doors. The dressing area also consists of an in-built lighting system. Thus, the floating of red with canes continues here, being in a blissful sync.

    Daughter’s Room

Beside the master room resides their daughter’s bedroom with simplified requirements of having a simple yet elegant design; hence, it has a panelled focal wall with customised boho-themed wallpaper and a fabric bed back over, facing the study area with tapered storage, and a cosy sitting window at the side to spend the evening enjoying the outskirts.

On the other side of kitchen lies daughter 2’s bedroom with clear requirement of having blue shade into the room with rustic look and so bricks were cladded at the back with designed panelled backdrop and little study area facing to it.

    Realms of Pop

Overall, the life of ‘Anantaya’ breathes through realms of pop, evergreen details, and a thorough understanding of what a home should feel like. In summary, Anantaya is an evocative volume of our hard work that we enjoyed cultivating. It has nurtured our design process, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
