  • A Material Palette Of Minimal Colors And Soft Textures Stands Out In The White House | K Studio Designs

In this question, Karishma Sutaria, founder of K Studio Designs, found her answer through the emotional language of space. Skyville, White House was designed like a pause in time. With its minimal colour and material palette, light and materials holding softness, it whispers silence in a volumetric space. Thus, making architecture more than just form; an experiential journey. The site was expressionless and raw, awaiting to be depicted with an architectural narrative that’s both eloquent and intimate. Over the two years, the team embraced this site and transformed a blank shell into a modern minimalist home. It reflects the designer’s hands-on involvement and thoughtful intent. From civil modification to intricate interior details, they shape a skyville that celebrates light, texture, colour, and scale. Thus, elevating the experience of home.

A Material Palette Of Minimal Colors And Soft Textures Stands Out In The White House | K Studio Designs

Approaching the entrance, the house greets one with soft tones and a material palette, granite walls veiled in greenery. As you step inside, the designers craft the first impression as a serene temple made of marble and golden glass, casting shadows across the space.

It is framed with a thin golden curtain offering privacy without interrupting visuality. Constant site meetings and close collaboration, with meticulous planning, are guided by the visual language, material clarity and spatial comfort.

Walking into the soul of the space, a double-height living room, balances the volume that breathes natural sunlight and creative details.

Suspended above, a sculptural marble chandelier becomes the centrepiece of the volume. It casts soft and gentle shadows, tying the vertical space together.

The interior of the living room has no clutter, no heavy panelling. It is wrapped in a muted material palette and subtle, soft, curved, yet modern furniture. Here, marble-clad walls rise clean and frame an arched mural.

Behind the seating, ambient lighting arcs across the wall, echoes comfort and composure, offering warmth and visual harmony.

    Staircase

Under the floating white marble staircase, a symphony of form and silence in the dining area unfolds. The sleek marble table with soft grey upholstered chairs, brass-tipped legs, and a cluster of pendant lights enhances the double-height volume.

    Artful Details and Sensory Design

The bespoke console adds details, while the mirror art on the wall expands vertically. An unexpected musical fountain nestled beneath the staircase enhances the sensorial aspect. It infuses calmness and soft acoustics that accompany family meals and quiet evenings. This adds a touch of sense to the functionality of the space.

    Precision Meets Functionality

The designer created the kitchen to express precision and a clean layout of the material palette, emphasising functionality. A bold, curved marble island becomes the visual anchor. Its wooden leg introduces plants, adding a green shade in space.

Blue subway tiles lining the walls echo the philosophy of minimalist design, while the built-in appliances, ribbed glass cabinets and niches for planters redefine the contemporary language of the kitchen.

    Parents’ bedroom

The parents’ bedroom balances the tactility of material with muted greys, blush pink and warm taupes, offering a subtle contrast to the white character. A beige headboard with fluffy cushions creates a soft, minimal look, and the designer strategically places the nightstands to emphasise horizontality.

    material palette

An asymmetrical sculpture on the wall adds a poetic manifestation, while the floor-to-ceiling drapes in soft grey enhance the room’s interior. The detailing – diagonal paneling, asymmetrical sculptures, and brass elements are subtle but deliberate.

    Master bedroom

The master bedroom illustrated in layers of muted and sage tones deepens visual variation. The soft ivory tone of the cladded accent wall behind the headboard adds texture, while the suspended pendant light from wooden coils brings sculptural warmth and style. Walking on the marble flooring, a curved green lounger catches the eye, offering a cozy and intimate nook for quiet reading or reflection.

    Dressing area

The dressing area breaks the orthogonal geometry with the large circular mirror, backlit with a soft ambient light and storage panels with fluted glass cabinets. Ribbed cabinetry and a velvet-topped ottoman, detailed in brass, complete the ritual of everyday luxury.

    son’s bedroom

Every room in the skyville reflects the client’s individuality and passion. The designer transformed the son’s enthusiasm for cricket into a symbolic architectural language in his bedroom.

Avoiding the latest trend of themed rooms, the design evolved from a striking red cricket ball composed in crisp tones of white, grey, black and red accents blending with the home’s core ideology of playful design deeply rooted in modern minimalism.

    Media room

The designer purposefully designed the media room, using deep, dark walls, blackout curtains, and a plush grey carpet to absorb both sound and light. The ceiling, striped with linear lights, becomes a dynamic counterpoint to the softness of the rest of the home. The designer intentionally designed each space to cater to the clients’ needs, showcase modern style, and illustrate architecture that feels like a home.

    Light, Minimalism, and Experiential Design

The integral part of design was dramatic play with natural light throughout the home, depicted in the transitions, expansive windows and a series of interconnected balconies. These conscious decisions foster openness and serene movement, inviting natural light into the space and cross ventilation, maintaining comfort. Using a modern minimalist design approach and materials such as Italian marble, warm wood, soft stone, mirror, glass, and natural textures, the designers achieved serene white interiors and spatial purity. They conceived Skyville as an experiential journey of airy, minimalist, volumetric spaces layered with spatial quality, a monochrome palette, and mindfulness. This project exemplifies dedication, intent and precision in crafting each corner and tying the visual language, materiality, and spatial clarity together.
