The Charles Correa Foundation’s biennial conference, will be hosted virtually. This year, Z-axis addresses the urgency of climate-responsive architecture. Charles Correa coined the phrase ‘Form Follows Climate’ and often said “to build in India is to respond to climate”. The essay was written in the late 1970s in response to the energy crisis that affected much of the Western world. Foreseeing similar grave mishaps for the Third World he started to advocate for sustainable design and planning practices as means to ward off a bleak future.
The fifth edition of Z-axis This year, the urgency of climate responsive architecture will be addressed through four sessions exploring the concept of ‘Form Follows Climate’ on four Fridays in November – Nov 4, 11, 18 and 25. The Speakers will be discussing ideas and projects centred around System Modulations, Material Explorations and Form Responses to climate.
