Spatial Planning Shapes This Contemporary Home | Wild Brick Studio

Living Room Shaped by Spatial Planning

Thoughtful spatial planning shapes this living space, creating a refined interpretation of India Modern design. The double-height volume establishes openness while encouraging a seamless visual connection across the interiors. Rich wooden ceilings, an earthy muted palette, and light terracotta-toned wall panelling introduce warmth, depth, and a grounded character. Clean-lined wooden furniture paired with soft neutral upholstery is carefully positioned to maintain openness while balancing elegance with comfort. Handcrafted artwork serves as a vibrant focal point, adding an artisanal Indian identity without disrupting the visual harmony. Natural light moves across the rug and furniture, enhancing the tactile quality of the materials and enriching the spatial experience. Together, these carefully considered elements create a timeless, sophisticated living environment where spatial planning and materiality work in harmony.

DINING AREA

The dining space is thoughtfully designed around symmetry, proportion, and visual balance. These principles create an atmosphere that feels both intimate and architecturally grounded. The centrally placed dining table establishes a strong focal point within the room. Surrounding wooden columns, together with the adjacent puja unit, subtly frame the space, creating the feeling of a pavilion within the home.

KITCHEN AREA

This kitchen embraces a warm contemporary design language with a seamless blend of minimalism and earthy textures. The linear layout creates a clean, elongated visual flow, making the space feel spacious, functional, and highly organized. The contrast between the soft beige upper cabinetry and the deep walnut-toned lower cabinets establishes a balanced composition, where lighter tones visually open up the upper volume while darker wood adds depth and richness below. The black stone countertop and chimney hood introduce a strong modern edge, grounding the overall palette with sophistication and contrast. What truly defines the character of this kitchen is the terracotta patterned backsplash, which brings warmth, texture, and a handcrafted charm.

MASTER BEDROOM

Thoughtful spatial planning shapes this bedroom, creating a warm, rustic-meets-classic retreat with subtle traditional influences. The designers positioned the wooden bed as the focal point, establishing a balanced and inviting composition. Its upholstered floral headboard introduces softness and texture against the neutral plaster-finish wall, while the symmetrical arrangement of framed mirrors and artwork strengthens the room’s visual balance and vertical rhythm. Warm wooden finishes on the bed frame and side panelling complement the earthy beige and cream palette, creating a cohesive and welcoming atmosphere. Together, the carefully planned layout, balanced proportions, and layered material palette create a bedroom that feels timeless, comfortable, and deeply personal.

The pendant lights placed asymmetrically on one side introduce a modern decorative touch while also acting as functional ambient lighting. Soft striped bedding, layered cushions, and the mustard throw blanket add depth, comfort, and contrast without overpowering the calm palette. The small bedside vase with fresh flowers completes the styling, bringing freshness and a delicate accent to the cozy, intimate setting.

KIDS BEDROOM

This kid’s bedroom is designed with a playful yet sophisticated aesthetic, blending functionality with artistic details. The warm wooden finishes on the bed, headboard, and storage elements create a cozy and grounded feel, while the soft neutral tones of the bedding and walls keep the space calm and inviting. Unique design features such as the bold wave blue accent wall inspired by the sea waves, geometric 3D wall elements which looks like a moment frozen , and whimsical animal-pattern wallpaper add personality and a sense of creativity, making the room feel lively and child-friendly.

The built-in window seating and smart storage solutions maximize usability while maintaining an uncluttered look. Soft natural light, layered textures, and carefully placed decor pieces like vases and wall art enhance the warmth of the room, resulting in a modern, playful, and comfortable bedroom that balances imagination with elegance.

FIRST FLOOR LIVING

The upper living space exudes a warm, earthy elegance with its harmonious blend of textures and tones. A rust-colored corduroy sofa anchors the room, complemented beautifully by the rich wooden side cabinet and handcrafted ceramic vase overflowing with delicate white blooms. Soft beige walls and flowing linen curtains create a calming backdrop, while the sculptural wall panel adds subtle artistic depth. Framed traditional artwork introduces a refined cultural touch, tying the entire space together into a cozy yet sophisticated retreat that feels both modern and timeless.

GUEST BEDROOM

This guest bedroom is designed as a warm and welcoming retreat, blending contemporary elegance with soft natural influences. The earthy terracotta-toned walls create a cocooning atmosphere, while the light upholstered headboard and neutral flooring balance the space with a sense of calm and sophistication. Inspired by Japanese minimalism and modern luxury interiors, the room embraces clean lines, natural wood textures, and subtle decorative accents to achieve a harmonious aesthetic. The floral artwork introduces a delicate organic element, complementing the fresh white lilies.

SECOND FLOOR LIVING

A patterned wingback armchair paired with a matching ottoman creates a cozy reading corner, while the rich wooden cabinetry and open shelving add depth and sophistication to the space. Vertical fluted wall panels introduce texture and visual interest, complementing the earthy tones of the furnishings and décor. Soft neutral walls and natural light enhance the calm ambiance, while carefully placed decorative accents and indoor plants bring warmth and personality, making the living space both functional and aesthetically refined.

PROJECT INSPIRATION

The project inspiration emerged through deep discussions with the clients and an understanding of how they envisioned their everyday living. Their strong appreciation for Indian artists, artisans, and handcrafted elements became the foundation of the design concept, shaping a home that reflects contemporary living while celebrating Indian craftsmanship and cultural richness.
