  • Turn Your Bedroom Into A Self-Care Sanctuary

Your bedroom should be the one place that you can escape not just from the hassles of modern life, but also from the demands of your family. It’s the ultimate sanctuary, the place where you can completely unwind and be yourself.

So why put up with any décor? It’s easier than you think to turn your bedroom into a self-care sanctuary and enjoy spending time there.

    Start With the Floor

The first step has to be replacing your flooring. There are two ways to go with this. The first is to opt for a tiled floor that’s reminiscent of the marble floors you find in the best hotels. Of course, tile is cold so you’ll need plenty of thick rugs to decorate the space and keep your feet warm.

On the plus side, if you’re going for tile, you could invest in some underfloor heating, that will really make you feel great when you walk into the room.

The second option is to invest in some deep pile carpet that will feel soft and luxurious under your feet. Choose a deep, rich color, such as dark red, you’ll feel the warmth and character of the room as soon as you step in.

    Change Your Furniture

The first step is to take a good look at your furniture and then change it. Treat yourself to some fantastic French wardrobes, or perhaps a four-poster bed. Obviously, you need to consider the space available in your room but the opulence of these pieces of furniture will mean you feel like you’re in a bedroom fit for a prince or princess.

You don’t want to overdo the number of pieces of furniture you have and make the room crowded, it’s actually enough to have a great wardrobe, dressing table, and your bed.

    Lighting

The next stage is to look at the lighting in the room. It’s a good idea to have several lights as this will allow you to focus the light where you need it, such as the dressing table. But, you also need to have dimmable lights, allowing you to fully relax and unwind.

Wall lights or a custom made neon sign are actually a great idea and they look fantastic in your room.

Don’t forget that the windows can let lots of light in, which is great. But, they can also be a feature, by using thin curtains you’ll allow some light in and still have a soft effect.

    The Personal Touch

Putting the personal touch in is what makes this more than just a fantastic hotel room. It makes it personal and your sanctuary. This does mean going to town on the fluffy cushions if that’s what you like. You can also add your favorite ornaments and a few select pictures to the walls.

Again, don’t overdo this part, you want it to feel personal, comfortable, but not cluttered.

It should go without saying that your bedroom is a work-free zone, it’s where you go to relax so make sure there’s a pile of books or magazines for you to relax with.
