This Home Is A Story Of Legacy, Memory And Craft | Upstairs

Prithvi Sagar” is more than just a home,it is a story of legacy, memory, and craft. Named after their forefathers, the project embodies grounding and depth, linking design to heritage and meaning.

Within the intimacy of a small apartment, we sought to celebrate the quiet beauty of Indian materials and the timeless skills of local artisans.

This Home Is A Story Of Legacy, Memory And Craft | Upstairs

legacy

The clients envisioned a home rooted in elegance, legacy and authenticity. They sought a grand double door, rhythmic chevron flooring, and locally made materials that honor Indian craftsmanship and sustainability.

legacy

The home is envisioned as an expression of Indian modern living, where rooted traditions meet contemporary clarity. The design embraces Kotha stone in its raw honesty, weaving in textures that celebrate craft and tactility. Ash wood stained finishes bring warmth, balancing the solidity of stone with a softer materiality. Each surface reflects refined restraint, shaping a timeless, contextual home.

THE SPATIAL CONFIGURATION

The entryway opens directly into the heart of the home, with the living room placed to the right, setting a welcoming tone. On the left side of the entry lies the mandir, followed by the kitchen, which extends into the chokdi—a semi-open space that adds light and ventilation. Moving straight from the entry, the dining area becomes the central anchor of the layout.

THE CIVIL INTERVENTION

The designers reimagined the layout to enhance both functionality and comfort. The entry opens into the home’s heart, with the living room to the right and the mandir, kitchen, and light-filled chokdi to the left.

They strategically relocated the common basin, which allowed the son’s bedroom to gain more space. They redesigned the master bathroom for added space and everyday luxury.

Adjacent to it, on the left, is the common basin, placed opposite the son’s bedroom. To the right of the dinning lies the daughter’s room, while the parents’ bedroom is located on the left, completing the balance between private and shared spaces.

THE MATERIAL

The design blends Indian materials with refined detailing—Kota stone flooring, sandstone, and green marble in bathrooms anchor the home. A limestone main door, ash wood finishes, and satin metal accents infuse warmth and modern sophistication.
